This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".

This document replaces GB/T 17843-2007 "Terminology for Shipbuilding and Offshore Dredgers". Compared with GB/T 17843-2007,
Apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) The term "dredging tools" has been changed to "dredging equipment," and the definition has been revised (see 3.1.9, 2.7 of the.2007 edition);
b) The term "maximum dredging depth" has been changed to "maximum dredging depth," and the definition has been revised (see 3.2.7, 10.3 of the.2007 edition);
c) The term "minimum dredging depth" has been changed to "minimum dredging depth," and the definition has been revised (see 3.2.8, 10.4 of the.2007 edition);
d) The term "split trailing suction hopper dredger" has been changed to "split trailing suction hopper dredger," and the definition has been revised (see 3.3.1.1.6,.2007 edition).

The process of loosening, collecting, transporting and disposing of mud (3.6.1).
3.1.2
hopperloading
The process of filling mud (3.6.1) into the mud hopper (3.4.18) of a mud barge (3.4.13) or a dredger with a mud hopper (3.3.1.1.1).

soil
River/seabed materials, which include sludge, sand, rocks and other materials.

dredging site
Geographical location for carrying out dredging operations on soil (3.1.3).

dredger
Vessels or equipment used for dredging (3.1.1).
3.1.6
dredging unit
Dredging vessels (3.1.5) and their service vessels used for the extraction, transport and disposal of soil (3.1.3) during dredging (3.1.1) operations.
