This part is the sixth part of GB/T 15579.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 15579.6-2008 "Arc welding equipment part 6. Manual metal arc welding power supply with limited load".
The main technical changes in this section compared with GB/T 15579.6-2008 are as follows.
--- Expanded the scope of application of the standard (see Chapter 1);
--- Added additional requirements for plasma cutting systems (see 6.3.5);
---Modified the contact current under fault conditions (see 6.3.7);
--- Eliminated the requirements of thermal cut-off devices and increased the requirements for thermal protection and thermal control devices (see Chapters 7, 8 and 9);
--- Revised the thermal performance test method and assessment indicators (see Chapter 7);
--- Increased overload test items in unconventional operations (see 10.4);
--- Increased measurement method of input current (see 11.1.2);
--- Revised the requirements for rated no-load voltage (see 12.1);
--- Increase the agreed load voltage value for type inspection of welding power sources such as TIG welding (see 12.2);
--- Increased requirements for protection against electric shock (see Chapter 14);
---Modified the requirements of the enclosure (see 15.2);
--- Increased manual lifting device requirements (see 15.3);
--- Increased requirements for auxiliary devices (see Chapter 16);

1 Scope
This part of GB/T 15579 specifies the limited load that is connected to a single-phase public low-voltage power supply system and designed for non-professionals.
Arc welding and cutting power supplies and auxiliary devices, safety requirements for mechanically driven power supplies with an output power not exceeding 7.5 kVA and
Performance requirements.
Note 1. This equipment is usually used by non-professionals in residential areas.
This section does not apply to the following arc welding and cutting power supplies.

---With pneumatic device;
---Three-phase input power;
And power supplies for industrial and professional use only.
This section does not apply to arc welding and cutting power supplies and auxiliary devices used in the following processes.
