This document is modified to adopt ISO 8098.2023 "Safety requirements for bicycles and child bicycles".
This document has undergone significant structural adjustments compared to ISO 8098.2023.A table comparing the structural numbering changes between the two documents is provided.
See Appendix C.
The technical differences between this document and ISO 8098.2023, and the reasons therefor, are as follows.
---The scope has been expanded to include children's bicycles that are not suitable for road riding (see Chapter 1) to accommodate my country's technical conditions;
---The requirements for the quick-release device have been revised and specific requirements for the quick-release device have been proposed (see 4.4.3) to make it more operable;
---The requirements for protrusions have been revised (see 4.5) to make the standard requirements more explicit;
---The requirements for bicycle clothes hangers, reflectors, and horn devices have been removed, making the standard requirements safer;
---ISO 8124-1.2018 (see 4.13) has been replaced with the normatively referenced GB 6675.2-2025 to accommodate Chinese technology.
condition;
---A crack detection method GB/T 18851.2 (see 4.1.8) has been added to adapt to my country's technical conditions;
---Added limit requirements for "migrating elements", "plasticizers", "polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons" and "short-chain chlorinated paraffins" consistent with GB 6675.1.
(See 4.2);
---The detection method for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, GB/T 29614-2021 (see 4.2), has been added to adapt to my country's technical conditions;
---The detection method for short-chain chlorinated paraffins, GB/T 41524 (see 4.2), has been added to adapt to my country's technical conditions;
---A limit detection method for migratable elements, GB 6675.4 (see 4.2), has been added to adapt to my country's technical conditions;
---The limit test method for plasticizers, GB/T 22048 (see 4.2), has been added to adapt to my country's technical conditions;
---The asbestos testing method GB/T 23263 (see 4.6.1) has been added to adapt to my country's technical conditions;
---The instruction manual and labeling requirements have been revised (see Chapters 5 and 6) to better suit the situation in my country;
---Implementation requirements for the standard have been added (see Chapter 7) to adapt to the implementation requirements of Chinese standards.
---ISO 1101, ISO 6742-2, and ISO 11243 have been removed and are not covered in this document.
The following editorial changes have been made to this document.
---To align with existing standards, the standard's name has been changed to "Safety of Children's Bicycles for Riding and Activities";
---References have been removed;
---Added notes on hub brakes, handlebars, and cables (see 4.4.1, 4.4.2, and 4.4.5);
