SL 314-2004 SL ICS 93.160 P 59 WATER RESOURCES INDUSTRY STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Design specification for roller compacted concrete dams ISSUED ON. DECEMBER 8, 2004 IMPLEMENTED ON. FEBRUARY 1, 2005 Issued by. Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China Notice on Approval and Release of SL 314-2004 “Design Specification for Roller Compacted Concrete Dams” SGK [2004] No. 592 To. Organizations direct-report to the ministry; water resources (water affairs) departments (bureaus) of provinces, autonomous regions and direct-municipalities; water resources (water affair) bureaus of independent-plan municipalities; and water resources bureau of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. After examination, “Design Specification for Roller Compacted Concrete Dams” is approved to be a water resources industry standard. And here it is released. The standard number is SL 314-2004. This Standard shall be implemented from February 1, 2005. Text of the Standard will be released by China Water Power Press. December 8, 2004 Foreword In accordance with Water Resource Ministry’s Water Resources and Hydroelectric Plan, Design & Management Bureau’s SZJK [2001] No.1 FILE “About Issuing Notice of Year-2001 Water Resources and Hydroelectric Investigation & Design Technical Standard Formulation, Project Plan of Revision, and Chief Editorial Organizations” and “Drafting Provisions of Technical Standards of Water Resources” (SL 1-2002); based on “Design Guide for Roller Compacted Concrete Dams” (DL/T 5005-92) (hereinafter referred to as the Previous Guide); and absorbing the domestic and foreign project construction experiences and scientific research achievements on rolled concrete dams in the recent 10 years, the previous guideline is modified and supplemented. And this Standard is formulated. This Standard contains 9 chapters and 73 articles. The main technical contents include. — Arrangement of Hydro-project of roller compacted concrete dams; — Body-shape design of roller compacted concrete dams, contents and methods of dam-body stability and stress analysis; — Structure design of construction joints, seepage-proofing, galleries, water stop, drainage, and other structures of roller compacted concrete dams; — Roller compacted concrete materials and dam body concrete zoning; — Temperature control design methods and temperature control measures of roller compacted concrete dams; — Safety monitoring design principles, monitoring items and monitoring facilities arrangement. The main modifications and supplements of this Standard to the previous guide include. — Add reference standards; —Add terms; — Add the contents that the finite element calculation is suitable for high roller compacted concrete gravity dams; — Clearly adopt Grade 2 roller compacted concrete as the preferred seepage-proofing methods of dams. And define the minimum allowable impervious grade and effective thickness; — Revise the setting principles for transverse joints or inducing joints of roller compacted concrete gravity dams; — Add water stop design requirements for transverse joints or inducing joints of roller compacted concrete gravity dams; — Revise the maximum mixing amount of admixtures in external and internal roller compacted concretes; — Add contents of grout enriched vibrated roller compacted concrete application; — Revise the design principles for allowable temperature difference of roller compacted concrete gravity dam foundation; — Add measures for preventing cracks on dam body; — Add design contents of roller compacted concrete arch dams, including arch dam shape, stress analysis methods of arch dams, construction joints structures, and grouting system, etc.; — Change the previous “Observation Design” to “Safety Monitoring Design”. Specify the project monitoring scope. Revise the principles for safety monitoring design. Refine the arrangement requirements for main monitoring items. The mandatory provisions of this Standard include 1.0.2, 4.0.2, 4.0.4, 7.0.6, Paragraph 1 of 8.0.1, and Paragraph 1 of 8.0.5. All of them are marked by boldface. Approval authority of this Standard. The design of Grade 4 and 5 roller compacted concrete gravity dams can take this Standard as reference. Special study shall be made for the design of roller compacted concrete gravity dams of which the height is over 200 m. This Standard also applies to the design of roller compacted concrete arch dams. 1.0.4 According to the height, roller compacted concrete dams can be divided into low dam, medium dam and high dam. Dams of which the height is below 30 m are low dams; dams of 30-70 m are medium dams; and dams over 70 m are high dams. 1.0.5 Design of roller compacted concrete dams requires collecting and mastering meteorology, hydrology, sediment, terrain, geology, earthquake, construction materials, ecological environment, and other basic information; and researching the construction and application conditions. 1.0.6 The following standards are the main standards quoted in this Standard. At the publication of this Standard, all shown editions are valid. All standards are subject to revision. And all parties using this Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the latest editions of the following standards. Standard for Flood Control (GB 50201-94) Test Code for Hydraulic Roller Compacted Concrete (SL 48-94) Design Code for Hydraulic Concrete Structures (SL/T 191-96) Specifications for Seismic Design of Hydraulic Structures (SL 203-97) Design Specifications of Hydraulic Structures against Ice and Freezing Action (SL 211--98) Standard for Classification and Flood Control of Water Resources and Hydroelectric Project SL 252-2000) Design Specification for Concrete Arch Dams (SL 282-2003) Design Specification for Concrete Gravity Dams (SL 319-2005) Design Code for Hydraulic Concrete Structures (Trial) (SDJ 20-78) Construction Specification for Hydraulic Roller Compacted Concrete (DL/T 5112-2000) 1.0.7 In addition to meeting this Standard, roller compacted concrete dams shall also be in compliance with the provisions of the relevant current national standards. 2 Terms 2.0.1 Roller compacted concrete It refers to the concrete of which the non-plastic concrete mixture is thin-layer paved and goes through vibration roller compacted dense. 2.0.2 Roller compacted concrete gravity dam It refers to the solid gravity dams which is made of roller compacted concrete. 2.0.3 Roller compacted concrete arch dam It refers to the arch dams which is made of roller compacted concrete. 2.0.4 Mineral admixture It refers to the active or inactive mineral materials which are added to concrete to improve the performance of concrete and reduce the use amount of cement. 2.0.5 Roller compacted concrete layer surface It refers to the continuous-rise paved roller compacted concrete surface. 2.0.6 Roller compacted concrete lift joint It refers to the roller compacted concrete layer that must be treated after an interval. 2.0.7 Grout enriched vibrated roller compacted concrete It re... ......
