Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard was proposed by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee
on Non-ferrous Metal of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 243).

Microcrystalline cemented carbide rod
1 Scope
This Standard specifies requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks,
packaging, transport, storage, contents of quality certificate and contract (or
order sheet) for microcrystalline cemented carbide rod.
This Standard is applicable to microcrystalline cemented carbide rod of which
the average grain size of tungsten carbide (WC) is greater than or equal to 0.3
μm and less than 0.8 μm in cemented carbide.

3 Requirements
3.1 Product classification and schematic
3.1.1 Product classification
Product, according to dimensional accuracy, is classified into blank rod and
finely-ground rod.

3.2 Chemical composition
Product’s chemical composition is determined by supplier and purchaser. It is
guaranteed by supplier.
3.3 Organizational structure
3.3.1 Product’s WC average grain size, porosity, non-combined carbon,
macroscopic pores shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.

3.3.2 When purchaser has requirements for product’s other organizational
structure, it shall be determined by supplier and purchaser via negotiation.
3.4 Mechanical properties
3.4.1 Product’s Rockwell hardness, bending strength shall comply with the
provisions of Table 2.

3.4.2 When purchaser has requirements for product’s other mechanical
properties, it shall be determined by supplier and purchaser via negotiation.

3.6 Appearance quality
3.6.1 Defects such as peeling, bubbling, blisters, delamination, cracks,
adhesives are not allowed on surface of blank rod.
3.6.2 See Table 9 for allowable lengths, widths, depths of blank rod’s
circumferential chip, arris defect.

3.6.3 On surface of finely-ground rod, there shall be no defects such as notch,
chromatic aberration, scratch.
3.6.4 Surface roughness Ra of finely-ground rod shall not exceed 0.2 µm or be
determined by supplier and purchaser via negotiation.
3.7 Other
When purchaser has other requirements for product, it shall be solved by
supplier and purchaser via negotiation.
4 Test methods
4.1 Product’s organizational structure, mechanical properties are in accordance
with GB/T 5242 or determined by supplier and purchaser via negotiation.
4.2 Use measuring tools of corresponding accuracy to measure product’s
dimensions and tolerances, shape tolerances.
4.3 Visually inspect product’s appearance quality. Use measuring tools of
corresponding accuracy to measure.
5 Inspection rules
5.1 Inspection and acceptance
5.1.1 Product is inspected by supplier who shall ensure product complies with
provisions of this Standard and contract (or order sheet) and fill in product’s
quality certificate.
5.1.2 Purchaser shall inspect received product according to the provisions of
this Standard. If inspection results fail to comply with this Standard and contract
(or order sheet), it shall propose to supplier within 3 months since product is
received. It shall be solved by supplier and purchaser via negotiation. When
arbitration is required, sampling for arbitration shall be conducted by supplier
and purchaser at purchaser’s site.

5.2 Batching
Product shall be submitted for inspection in batches. Each batch of products
shall be composed of products of same chemical composition, of same
specification, of same category.
5.3 Inspection items and sampling
Inspection items and sampling of each batch of products shall comply with the
provisions of Table 10.

5.4 Determination of inspection results
5.4.1 When inspection results of product’s organizational structure, mechanical
properties fail, it shall conduct double sampling to re-test rejected items. If one
repeated test result still fails, this batch of products shall be determined as
rejected.
5.4.2 When product’s dimensions and tolerances, shape tolerances are
inspected as rejected, this piece shall be determined as rejected.
5.4.3 When product’s appearance quality is inspected as rejected, this piece
shall be determined as rejected.
6 Marks, packaging, transport, storage and quality
certificate
6.1 Product’s marks, packaging, transport and storage are in accordance with
the provisions of GB/T 5243.
6.2 Product quality certificate
Each batch of products shall be provided with quality certificate, indicating:
a) supplier’s name, address;
b) product name;
c) product lot number;
d) product’s net weight or quantity;
e) inspection results of each item and technical supervision department
imprint;
f) inspection date.
7 Contents of contract (or order sheet)
Contract (or order sheet) shall contain the following information:
a) product name;
b) technical requirements;
c) product net weight or quantity;
d) reference to this Standard;
e) other.
