This Standard is formulated with a view to implement "Environmental Protection Law
of the People's Republic of China", safeguard human health and promote the
technological advancement.
This Standard specifies the concentration of certain benzene homologues and
aldehydes in passenger car.

Guideline for Air Quality Assessment of Passenger Car
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the concentration of benzene, toluene, dimethylbenzene,
ethylbenzene, styrene, methanal, acetaldehyde and acrolein in passenger car.
This Standard is applicable to assessment of the air quality in passenger car.
This Standard is applicable primarily to newly-produced automobiles for sale; it may
also be referenced by those vehicles in service.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Standard.
Passenger car
In accordance with GB 7258, passenger car refers to the car that is designed and
technically characterized for, mainly, transport passengers, personal luggage and (or)
temporary goods;
4 Technical Requirements
Concentration of organic compounds in passenger car is specified in Table 1.
5 Inspection Methods
5.1 Organic compound concentration in the passenger car is tested according to
those specified in HJ/T 400-2007.Samples shall be taken under the environment
conditions specified in HJ/T 400-2007;
5.2 Other factors (e.g. whether the interiors are changed when the car is exited from
factory; interval time between exit-factory and inspection, etc.)
