Towels
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods,
inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of towel
products.
This Standard applies to all kinds of woven towel products using textile fibers
as raw materials.
This Standard does not apply to microfiber towels and disposable towels.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Towels
A fabric with textile fibers as raw materials and looped pile or cut pile on the
surface, used for purposes such as scrubbing, warmth, decoration in daily life.
Example: Square towels, face towels, bath towels, towel blankets, etc.
3.2
Terry towels
Towels with cut pile treatment on the surface loops.
4 Requirements
4.1 The basic safety technical requirements of products shall comply with the
regulations of GB 18401. Products for infants and children shall comply with the
regulations of GB 31701.
4.2 The inherent quality of the product includes weight deviation rate, breaking
force, water absorption, fiber shedding rate, fiber content deviation, color
fastness (to washing with soap, to rubbing, to chlorine bleaching) and water
5 Test methods
5.1 Inspection of inherent quality
5.1.1 Determination of weight deviation rate: Under the standard atmosphere
specified in GB/T 6529, weigh a constant weight (10 square towels and face
towels); calculate the weight deviation rate.
5.1.2 The determination of breaking force is carried out in accordance with the
provisions of GB/T 3923.1.
5.1.3 The determination of water absorption is carried out in accordance with
the provisions of method A in GB/T 22799-2019. When sampling, it shall avoid
parts such as paint, satin, embroidery or other parts that may be affected.
5.1.4 The determination of fiber shedding rate is carried out in accordance with
the provisions of method A in GB/T 22798-2019.
5.1.5 The determination of fiber content is carried out in accordance with the
provisions of GB/T 2910 (all parts) and FZ/T 01057 (all parts).
5.1.6 The color fastness to washing with soap is determined according to the
method C(3) in GB/T 3921-2008.
5.1.7 The color fastness to rubbing is determined according to the provisions of
GB/T 3920.
5.1.8 The color fastness to chlorine bleaching is determined in accordance with
the provisions of GB/T 7069.
5.1.9 The determination of the water extraction material within the sample is
carried out according to the provisions of GB/T 27754. For samples with a
length exceeding 1800 mm and a width exceeding 1200 mm, take a quarter of
the whole. At the cutting edge, use the sewing thread of this thread to cover the
seam.
5.2 Inspection of appearance quality
5.2.1 Determination of specification size deviation rate
5.2.1.1 Tool: Steel ruler.
5.2.1.2 SPREAD the sample flat on the inspection table; USE hands to gently
flatten it, so that the sample is in a natural stretch state. USE a steel ruler to
measure at one-quarter and three-quarters of the length and width direction of
the entire sample, accurate to 1 mm. Calculate according to formula (1). The
