UDC NATIONAL STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Technical Code for Building Slope Engineering ISSUED ON. NOVEMBER 1, 2013 IMPLEMENTED ON. JUNE 1, 2014 Jointly issued by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) of the People’s Republic of China GB NATIONAL STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Technical Code for Building Slope Engineering Chief Development Department. Chongqing Municipal Commission of Urban-Rural Development Approval Department. Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development of the People's Republic of China Implementation Date. June 1, 2014 Beijing 2013 Announcement of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China No. 195 Announcement of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on Publishing the National Standard of "Technical Code for Building Slope Engineering" "Technical Code for Building Slope Engineering" has been approved as a national standard with a serial number of GB 50330-2013, which will be implemented on June 1, 2014. Articles 3.1.3, 3.3.6, 18.4.1 and 19.1.1 of the code are compulsory and must be enforced strictly. The original "Technical Code for Building Slope Engineering" (GB 50330 -2002) shall be abolished simultaneously. Authorized by the Research Institute of Standards and Norms (RISN) of MHURD, this code is published and distributed by China Architecture and Building Press. Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China November 1, 2013 Foreword According to the requirements of the document "Notice on Printing and Publishing 'Development and Revision Plan of Building Construction Standards and Specifications in 2007 (first batch)'" (Jian Biao [2007] No. 125) issued by the former Ministry of Construction, the former "Unified Acceptance Standard for Building Construction Quality" (GB 50330-2002) is revised by the drafting group through extensive investigations and studies, careful summarization of practical experience and reference to relevant national and international standards, on the basis of widely soliciting for opinions. The main technical contents of this code are. 1. General Provisions; 2. Terms and Symbols; 3. Basic Requirements; 4. Geotechnical Investigation of Slope Engineering; 5. Stability Assessment of Slope; 6. Lateral Pressure of Slope Retaining Structure; 7. Slope Engineering for Important Construction on Slope Top; 8. Anchor; 9. Retaining Wall with Anchor; 10. Rock Slope Retaining by Anchor-Shotcrete Retaining; 11. Gravity Retaining Wall; 12. Cantilever Retaining Wall and Counterfort Retaining Wall; 13. Pile-Sheet Retaining; 14. Slope Ratio Method; 15. Protection and Virescence of Slope; 16. Drainage of Slope Engineering; 17. Prevention of Engineering-triggered Landslide; 18. Construction of Slope Engineering; and 19. Monitoring, Inspection and Quality Acceptance of Slope Engineering. There have been some significant changes in this code in the following technical aspects. 1. The values of relevant parameters (e.g. fracture angle and equivalent angle of internal friction) of temporary slope (including rock foundation pit slope) was specified and the calculation of lateral pressure of temporary slope was provided; 2. With regard to the calculation related to anchor (i.e. anchor section, anchoring length between anchoring body and stratum, and anchoring length between anchored bar and anchoring body), the calculation method in probability limit state in the former code was converted to safety coefficient method; 3. The assessment method for slope stability analysis was adjusted as follows. for the stability calculation of circular sliding plane, Bishop method was recommended; and for that of broken-line sliding plane, transfer coefficient method was recommended; 4. The calculation method for the lateral pressure of step slope was added; with regard to seismic protection, details about the calculation of lateral pressure of slope retaining structure were provided. 5. The rock slope retaining by anchor-shotcrete retaining for longterm slope was partially modified and improved, and details about anchor-shotcrete retaining for temporary slope and slope surface protection were supplemented; 6. The type of counterfort retaining wall was added and relevant technical contents were supplemented; 7. The chapter "Pile-sheet Retaining Wall" was added and relevant technical contents of pile-sheet retaining wall, e.g. design principle, calculations, structure and construction, were provided; 8. The chapter "Protection and Virescence of Slope" was added and relevant technical contents of protection and virescence of slope, e.g. design principle, calculations, structure and construction, were provided; 9. Section 3.5 "Drainage Measures" in the former code was expanded into the chapter "Drainage of Slope Engineering", which specified the waterproofing of slope surface, internal drainage, design and construction method for seepage prevention; 10. Section 3.6 "Design of Slope Works with Important Construction on Top of Slope" and Chapter 14 "Slope Deformation Control" in the former code were combined into Chapter 7 "Slope Engineering for Important Construction on Slope top" of this code, which specified the design principle and method, correction method of lateral rock-soil pressure, specific requirements of seismic design and safe construction for slope engineering with important construction on slope top; 11. The prevention of engineering-triggered landslide was modified and details about the prevention of crag and collapse were deleted; 12. Monitoring, quality inspection and acceptance of slope engineering were partially modified and improved and the monitoring of pre-warning values for slope engineering were provided. The provision(s) printed in bold type is (are) compulsory one (ones) and must be enforced strictly. Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is in charge of the administration of this code and the explanation of the compulsory provisions. Chongqing Architectural Design Institute is responsible for the explanation of specific technical contents. All relevant units are kindly requested to sum up and accumulate your experiences in actual practices during the process of implementing this code. The relevant opinions and advices, whenever necessary, can be posted or passed on to Chongqing Architectural Design Institute (Address.
