Foreword
This Standard replaces GB 4805-1994 Hygienic STANDARD for epoxy
phenolic resin coating for the internal lacquer of food cans, GB 7105-1986
The sanitary specifications of perchloravinyl interior coatings for food
container, GB 9680-1988 Hygienic Standard of phenol lacquer for food
container, GB 9682-1988 Hygienic Standard of phenol lacquer for food
container, GB 9686-2012 National Food Safety Standard - Epoxy Polyamide
Resin Coating for Inner Wall, GB 11676-2012 Anti-adhesive Silicone Paint,
GB 11677-2012 National Food Safety Standard - Water-based Modified
Epoxy Resin Coating on the Inner Wall of Pop Can, GB 11678-1989 Hygienic
standard for polytetrafluorethylene used as inner coating of food containers
and relative contents of paint used resin in Announcement about the list of
107 kinds of resins that can be used for food packaging materials such as
polyhexamethylene adipamide (No. 23 Notice of 2011 of former Ministry of
Health).
Compared with the above standards and announcement, the main
modifications in this Standard are as follows.
- modified the standard’s name to “National Food Safety Standard - Food
Contact Paints and Coatings”;
- modified the scope;
- added terms and definitions;
- added basic requirements;
- added raw material requirements;
- modified physical and chemical indicators;
- added general requirements for migration testing;
- added label identification requirements;
- added Annex A.
National Food Safety Standard –
Food Contact Paints and Coatings
1 Scope
This Standard is applicable to food contact paints and coatings.
This Standard is not applicable to paper paints and coatings.
2 Terms and definitions
2.1 Food contact paints and coatings

3 Basic requirements
The food contact paints and coatings shall comply with the provisions of GB
4806.1.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Raw material requirements
The list of resin allowed shall comply with the provisions of Annex A and
corresponding announcement.
4.2 Coating sensory requirements
The coating sensory requirements shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.

Senses Smooth surface, uniform color, no pores; after soaking, there should be no cracks, no blistering or falling off.
Soaking solution
The immersion solution obtained from the migration test should not have
sensory deterioration such as coloring, turbidity, precipitation, smell or other
sensory deterioration.
