Foreword
Chapter 3 and chapter 4 of this Standard are mandatory; the others are recommended.
This Standard refers to ISO/DIS 6727.2001 “Road vehicles – Motorcycles – Symbols for
controls, indicators and telltales”. The technical contents on motorcycles are the same as
ISO/DIS 6727.2001.
This Standard replaces GB 15365-1994 “Symbols for Controls, Indicators and Tell Tales
for Motorcycles and Mopeds”.
Compared with GB 15365-1994, the main revised contents of this Standard are as follows.
— Add 4.1 Signs of distance light flashing warning;
— Add 4.8 Signs of antilock brake system;
— Add 4.13 Optional graphics of fuel level height;
— Modify 4.18 Graphics of reversing light;
— Add symbols for controls, indicators and tell tales for motorcycles and mopeds in
4.20 ~ 4.29.
For newly certified vehicle models, this Standard shall be implemented from July 1, 2009;
for vehicles in production, this Standard shall be implemented from January 1, 2010.
This Standard was proposed by China Automotive Industry Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Automotive Technical Committee
for Standardization.

Symbols for controls, indicators and tell tales for
motorcycles and mopeds
1 Scope
This Standard specifies symbols and colour of light signal device for controls, indicators
and tell tales for motorcycles and mopeds.
This Standard applies to those controls that are installed on the dashboard and that are
close to the drivers of motorcycles and mopeds. However, this does not mean that each
control listed in this Standard must be used.
This Standard applies to motorcycles and mopeds (hereinafter referred to as
motorcycles).
2 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this Standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
2.1
Control
The component that is used by driver to change the working conditions or function of
some device of motorcycle.
2.2
Indicator
The instrument (meter) that uses scale values or digits to display the working conditions of
motorcycles and the parts.
2.3
Tell Tale
The indicating device that uses light signal or acoustic signal to display the working
conditions of motorcycles and the parts.
a Colourless part within the symbol’s boarder may be painted.
b Symbol of high beam flashing signal device can use the signal of headlight switching signal
device.
c When front and rear fog lights use the same control, sign of front fog light may be used.
d It is allowed to divide the arrows of left indicator and right indicator into 2 symbols.
e This sign is only used for controls or red signal lights; meanwhile, it may be replaced by 2
arrows of turning indicators in 4.5.
f If this symbol adopts liquid crystal display, it is allowed to use the form of flashing to replace
signal device.
g “System failure” includes leakage fault.
h Base colour of this symbol is yellow; borders and symbols are in black.
Note. The symbol “〇” in the table means that there is no such device.
