Detection of animal and vegetable oils and mineral oils
1 Scope
This standard specifies the principles, reagents and materials, equipment, sample preparation methods, sample preparation, and qualitative determination of mineral oil in animal and vegetable oils.
Analysis steps and results expression.
The first method of this standard is applicable to the detection of mineral oil in animal and vegetable oils with a wax ester content of less than 0.5%, and the minimum detection limit is 0.5%;
The method is applicable to the detection of mineral oil in animal and vegetable oils other than dark sea buckthorn fruit oil, and the minimum detection limit is 0.3%.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Mineral oil mineraloil
The crude oil produced is produced by refining process and refining process such as atmospheric pressure or vacuum distillation, solvent refining, dewaxing and deasphalting.
Base oil.
Note. The main component of mineral oil is hydrocarbons.
4 First method saponification
4.1 Principle
The triglyceride and the monoglyceride, the glycidyl ester, the free fatty acid, the phospholipid and the like in the animal and vegetable oils and the like are generated under the heating condition and the strong alkali solution
In the reaction, the generated glycerin (or water) and soap are dissolved in hot water and are in a transparent state; while the mineral oil cannot be saponified by a strong alkali and is insoluble in hot water.
The solution became cloudy. Therefore, whether the mineral oil is mixed in the animal or vegetable oil can be detected by the degree of clarity of the saponification liquid.
4.2 Reagents and materials
The reagents used below are analytically pure reagents unless otherwise noted.
4.2.1 Water. GB/T 6682, Level 3.
4.2.2 Anhydrous ethanol.
4.2.3 Potassium hydroxide.
4.2.4 Potassium Hydroxide Solution. Add 15 g (accurate to 0.01 g) of potassium hydroxide to 10 mL of water to prepare a solution.
