Summary
This standard applies to maximum thickness of 100mm (4in) of moderate-intensity steel. Such steel for welded structures offshore structures specified impact resistant, plastic fatigue and lamellar tearing key parts. Such steel is mainly applied in accordance with API Spec 2B cold forming and welding process. Welding procedure is very important and assumed welding procedures applicable to such steel and its intended use, however, this steel should be suitable for use in shipyards and offshore construction and welding conditions. API Spec 2W and API Spec 2Y including those with similar mechanical properties but improved weldability similar steels. This improvement stems from the maximum allowable reduction in chemical composition, and by varying the heat treatment method and (or) process can be achieved.
