The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

Start resistor pre-insertionresistor
The flexible DC converter station does not control the resistance input during the charging process to reduce the charging current of the voltage source converter.
3.2
AC side starting resistor pre-insertionresistoratACside
A starting resistor arranged on the mesh side or the valve side of the coupling/commutation transformer according to system conditions.
Note. Refer to Appendix A for the typical position of the AC side starting resistor. The starting resistor arranged on the mesh side of the coupling/commutation transformer is called the AC network side starting power
The starting resistor placed on the valve side of the coupling/commutation transformer is called the AC valve side starting resistor.

DC side starting resistor pre-insertionresistoratDCside
The starting resistor is placed at the DC bus or neutral bus of the voltage source converter according to system conditions.
