This document is Part 2 of GB/T 4706 "Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances". GB/T 4706 has been published in the following parts.

This document replaces GB 4706.2-2007 "Particular requirements for safety of household and similar electrical appliances - electric irons" and is compatible with GB 4706.2-
Compared with.2007, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

1 Scope
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is replaced by the following.
This document specifies the safety requirements for dry-type electric irons and steam irons for household and similar purposes, including those with a capacity not exceeding
Safety requirements for steam irons with a 5L detachable water tank or evaporator.
This document applies to dry-type electric irons and steam irons for household and similar purposes with a rated voltage not exceeding 250V.
Appliances not intended for normal household use but which may still be dangerous to the public, such as those used by lay persons in shops, light industrial premises and on farms
Electric irons used by personnel also fall within the scope of this document.
This document deals with common hazards arising from appliances which are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, this document does not generally consider

3.1.9 Replaces.
Normal operation
The appliance operates under the following conditions.
---Put the electric iron on the stand and adjust the thermostat to the highest setting;
---If the electric iron does not have a thermostat, the surface temperature at the midpoint of the center line of the soleplate is maintained at
250℃±10℃, or if the surface temperature is lower, set to the highest temperature;
--- Steam irons with a separate water tank or evaporator are operated with the water tank or evaporator filled with water;
---A pressure steam iron with an evaporator operates with or without water injection, whichever is the less favorable;
