This standard is formulated by equivalently adopting Japanese Industrial Standard JIS K 6862-1984 Testing Methods for Melt Viscosity of Hot-melt Adhesives. Compared with JIS K 6862, main differences of this standard are. - The viscosity meter used in the method B of this standard is not the same model. This standard was proposed by Technical Inspection Division of former Ministry of Chemical Industry, the People's Republic of China. This standard shall be administered by the National Adhesive Standardization Technical Committee. Drafting organization of this standard. Shanghai Institute of Rubber Products. Main drafters of this standard. Lu Zhiyun, and Xin Renfen. This standard shall be responsibly interpreted by National Adhesive Standardization Technical Committee. Testing Methods for Melt Viscosity of Hot-melt Adhesives1 Scope
This standard specifies the melt viscosity test for hot-melt adhesive at 180ºC. It may also negotiate to use other test temperature according to needs. According to different sample amount, this standard uses Brooke (Brookfield) type single cylinder rotary viscometer and sleeve rotary viscometer respectively to determine the melt viscosity of hot-melt adhesive. The maximum melt viscosity measured by this standard is 200 Pa • s.2 Normative references
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Standard. At time of publication, the editions indicated are valid. All standards are subject to revision. The parties who are using this Standard shall explore the possibility of using the latest version of the following standards. GB/T 2918-98 Plastics - Standard atmospheres for conditioning and testing3 Principle
The viscosity measured by rotational viscometer is the dynamic viscosity. The molten hot-melt adhesive is non-Newtonian fluid. The ratio of any shear rate AND corresponding shear stress is not constant. The specific amount of hot-melt adhesive is heated under the given conditions. When the temperature of hot-melt adhesive reaches the test temperature, SELECT suitable viscometer’s rotor and speed. START viscometer. RECORD the viscosity value. 1) When sample amount is 200mL, it is not suitable to use rotor A-1.8 Test Report
The test report shall include the following content. a) Sample source, name, type, date of manufacture or batch number, date of test; b) Temperature, humidity and time of sample state adjustment; c) Test method (Method A, Method B); d) Viscometer’s model, rotor, rotation speed, and rotation time; e) The test results (viscosity and test temperature); f) Other content required to report. ......Source: Above contents are excerpted from the full-copy PDF -- translated/reviewed by: www.ChineseStandard.net / Wayne Zheng et al.
