This standard is a revision of SB 223-1985 "Technical Requirements for Welding and Riveting Parts of General Technical Conditions for Food Machinery".
Compared with SB 223-1985, the main changes of this standard are as follows.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements for welding and riveting parts of food machinery.
This standard is applicable to the manufacture of food machinery using manual arc welding, gas welding, sub-arc welding, gas shielded welding, electric resistance welding and riveting.
Steel components.
This standard does not apply to pressure vessels specified by the national labor department.

3.1 Welding and riveting parts of food machinery (hereinafter referred to as welding and riveting parts) shall be manufactured and approved in accordance with the drawings and technical documents approved by the prescribed procedures.
