3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
marineelements
The structure, composition, state, properties, spatial and temporal distribution, movement state and phenomena of the ocean.
[Source. GB/T 15918-2010, 5.7.6]
3.2
A special topic that reflects the temporal and spatial distribution and changes of marine elements compiled and produced by comprehensively using basic geographic information data and marine observation and survey data
map.
4 Classification and Coding Methods
4.1 Classification method
The marine survey thematic maps are divided into three levels. The first level is divided into marine hydrological thematic maps, marine meteorological thematic maps, and marine biological thematic maps according to disciplines.
Maps, ocean chemistry maps, ocean bottom maps, ocean geophysics maps, seafloor topography maps, ocean optics maps,
Ocean acoustics thematic maps, etc. Secondary and tertiary categories are divided according to the types of elements.
4.2 Encoding Method
The marine survey thematic map code is encoded using 6-digit characters. The specific method is as follows.
a) The first and second digits from the left are the first-level category, represented by two digits 01~99;
b) The third and fourth digits from the left are the secondary classes, which are feature classes formed by subdividing the primary class and are represented by two digits 00 to 99;
c) The fifth and sixth digits from the left are the third-level classes, which are feature classes formed by subdividing the second-level classes and are represented by two digits 00~99.
The code structure diagram is shown in Figure 1.
