Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents"
Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 5166-1998 "Determination of elastic modulus of sintered metal materials and cemented carbide" and is consistent with GB/T 5166-1998
In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) Added terms and definitions (see Chapter 3);
b) The principle has been changed (see Chapter 4, Chapter 3 of the.1998 edition);
c) The sampling method has been changed (see 5.1, 4.1 of the.1998 edition);
d) Delete "the thickness of the surface layer should be removed at least 0.1mm" (see 4.3 of the.1998 edition);
e) Added “Vernier caliper” (see 6.1);
f) Added “instrument resolution not greater than 1Hz” (see 6.4);
g) Added the sample density determination method for permeable sintered metal materials of sintered metal materials (excluding cemented carbide) (see 7.2);
h) The rules for rounding off reporting results have been changed (see 8.2, 7.2 of the.1998 version).

Determination of elastic modulus of sintered metal materials and cemented carbide
1 Scope
This document describes methods for the determination of the elastic modulus of sintered metallic materials and cemented carbide.
This document is applicable to the determination of the dynamic (adiabatic) elastic modulus of sintered metallic materials and cemented carbide using the longitudinal vibration method.
2 Normative reference documents
The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, the dated quotations
For undated referenced documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated referenced documents, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to
this document.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 10623-2008 and GB/T 22315-2008 apply to this document.
3.1
elastic modulus elasticitymodulus
The ratio of stress to corresponding strain below the proportional limit.
Note. The elastic modulus is also called Young's modulus.
[Source. GB/T 10623-2008, 2.9, with modifications]
3.2
Resonance frequencyresonancefrequency
The vibration frequency of the external forcing force that causes the specimen to resonate.
[Source. GB/T 22315-2008,3.2.5]
4 Principles
By subjecting the sample to longitudinal vibration excitation by acoustic waves, the sample is caused to vibrate mechanically. When the resonant frequency of the sample is the same as the excitation frequency, the sample is vibrated mechanically.
Resonance occurs. The elastic modulus can be calculated by measuring the resonant frequency, length and density of the sample.
Tips & Frequently Asked Questions:Question 1: How long will the true-PDF of GB/T 5166-2023_English be delivered?Answer: Upon your order, we will start to translate GB/T 5166-2023_English as soon as possible, and keep you informed of the progress.
