1 Scope
This standard specifies the test method, result expression and effect evaluation of mosquito repellent.
This standard is applicable to the determination and evaluation of the efficacy of mosquitoes and other blood-sucking Diptera insect repellents in the field.
2 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
2.1
Repellent
A negative substance that can emit a pungent odor to drive away insects or animals.
2.2
Target mosquito
A natural population of one or several mosquitoes used in the field to evaluate the effects of repellents.
2.3
Full protection time
The time between the application of the medicine and the first bite in the case that the application site of the human body was bitten by the same target mosquito twice within 30 minutes.
3 Evaluation principle
The volatile smell of the repellent can repel blood-sucking insects. The repellent is sprayed on the skin of the human body. Due to continuous volatilization and skin absorption,
As time goes by, the dose gradually decreases. When the dose attached to the skin is lower than a certain dose, it will lose its protective effect on the human body.
By measuring the protection time of the repellent to the human body, the field application effect of the repellent can be evaluated.

5 Test method
5.1 Selection of test population
On the premise of volunteers’ informed consent, 9 healthy volunteers between 18 and 50 years old were randomly selected, and the male to female ratio should be close.
The efficacy evaluation is obtained through human trials, and the implementation of the trial should be approved by the ethics committee of the experimental unit or its superior unit.
5.2 Select the test site
The selected test site has a high density of target mosquitoes. During the peak of mosquito activity, three people were randomly selected to expose one calf for 10 minutes.
The average number of internal mosquitoes stopping at the exposed part was more than 5 times, and there were no corresponding cases of vector-borne diseases in the area for 3 consecutive years.
