1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, use, identification, maintenance, storage and transportation of wire rope slings for general hoisting.
This document is only applicable to wire rope slings for general hoisting, and not applicable to wire rope slings for special hoisting and heavy-duty cable hoisting.
Refer to this document for other lifting rigging.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in YB/T 4536 apply to this document.
3.1
Rated working load
The maximum load that a sling is allowed to bear by a specific hanging method under general conditions of use.
3.2
Sling
Short for wire rope sling, it consists of wire rope and sling end fittings.
3.3
Toggle
A ring-shaped end formed by the consolidation of the end of the sling.
3.4
End accessories
The collective term for the rings, buckles, hooks, shackles and other accessories at the end of the sling.
3.5
Nominal length
The distance between the two actual working load points (including end fittings) of the wire rope sling in the unloaded state (see Figure 1).
