Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard is proposed and managed by the National Non-Destructive Testing Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC56).

Non-destructive testing plane-type injury height ultrasound quantitative guidance
1 Scope
This standard specifies the ultrasonic testing technology and its principle for determining the height of the flat surface of the ferrite and austenite workpieces. this
The standard recommends the use of time-of-flight (TOF) or propagation time difference (ΔTOF) for ultrasonic height quantification.
The flat-type injury height quantitative techniques described in this standard have their best application range. See Appendix A for details.
This standard recommends the determination of the height of the flat injury according to the evaluation procedure in Appendix B.
This standard does not apply to the method of quantifying the size of the injury using the signal amplitude method, and does not involve the method of quantification of the length of the flat injury.
Acceptance criteria for type injuries.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 12604.1 and GB/T 20737 apply to this document.
3.1
Dual mode bi-modal method
An ultrasonic detecting method for quantitatively determining the height of a wound by using both longitudinal and transverse waves existing in a workpiece.
3.2
Corner reflection
The ultrasonic beam is obliquely propagated to the 90° interface formed by the surface of the wound and the workpiece to be inspected, due to the interaction of the acoustic wave and the interface.
The raw ultrasound energy is reflected.
3.3
Double peak doublet
Simultaneously appear in pairs on the screen, and two signals that move synchronously as the probe approaches and moves away from the injury.
Note. When the height of the injury is quantified by the endpoint diffraction method, the end point signal and the lower end point signal (or the end angle reflection signal) are double peaks.
3.4
Far surface far-surface
At the time of inspection, the other surface of the workpiece to be inspected is opposite to the probe contact surface.
Note. For example, when the pipe is inspected from the outer surface, the inner surface of the pipe is the far surface.
3.5
Near surface near-surface
The surface of the workpiece to be in contact with the probe during inspection.
Note. For example, when the pipe is inspected from the outer surface, the outer surface of the pipe is the near surface.
