1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of water footprint evaluation at the organizational level, general principles, the purpose and scope of the determination, inventory analysis, impact assessment, Interpretation of results, the contents of the report. This standard applies to guide the organization level water footprint inventory and water footprint impact assessment.

3 Terms and definitions

GB/T 24040, GB/T 24044-2008 and ISO 14046.2014 defined by the following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Water footprint waterfootprint Quantify water-related indicators of potential environmental impacts. Note. The term "water footprint" can only be used when considering only the potential environmental impacts of a change in water quantity or quality. One or more qualifiers are used To describe additional terms that affect the type of water footprint assessment used in conjunction with water footprinting terminology, such as "water scarcity footprint", "water degradation footprint" and so on. 3.2 Water scarce footprint waterscarcityfootprint Without considering the quality of water, quantifying the potential environmental impacts associated with the scarcity of water produced by the organization's activities in an area (such as a river basin) index. 3.3 Water degradation footprints waterdegradationfootprint Quantify potential environmental impact indicators that are generated by the organization's activities and that are related to the negative changes in water quality. Note. Water degradation footprints can be subdivided into eutrophication footprints, water acidification footprints, water ecotoxicity footprints, etc. according to the characteristics of the pollutants. 3.4 Water eutrophication footprint watereutrophfootfootprint Quantify the potential environmental impact associated with the eutrophication of water bodies resulting from the discharge of nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants generated by the organization's activities. 3.5 Water acidification footprint wateracidificationfootprint Quantify the potential environmental impact of an organization's activities that is associated with the acidification of the body of water caused by the discharge of acidic pollutants.
