Classification and naming of activated carbon
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification and naming rules for activated carbon.
This standard applies to all kinds of raw materials and various methods of production of activated carbon.
2 terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
2.1
Coal-activated charcoal
To coal as the main raw material, the carbonization, activation made of porous adsorbent.
2.2
Wood activated carbon
To wood, wood chips, shells as the main raw material, the carbonization, activation made of porous adsorbent.
2.3
Synthetic material activated carbon syntheticmaterialsactivatedcarbon
To synthetic resin and copolymer as the main raw material, the pyrolysis, activation of the synthesis of porous adsorbent.

Activated carbon is divided into four categories according to the main raw materials used in the manufacture. The main purpose of different types of activated carbon is shown in Appendix A,
