5 Main morphological and structural characteristics
5.1 External appearance
Double shell, fan-shaped, the left and right shells are almost equal in size, but the right shell is slightly flat, the left shell is slightly convex, and the ventral edge is nearly round; the top of the shell is located on the back.
The edge is slightly convex; the top of the shell protrudes a larger front ear forward and a smaller rear ear backward, both of which are triangular in shape, and the shapes of the left and right ears are different.
The ventral surface of the front ear of the right shell is concave backwards, forming a pecten hole that communicates with the outside world when the left and right shells are closed. The ventral edge of the hole on the upper end of the right shell has a small
The outer surface of the shell is mostly purple-brown or light brown, with some yellow-brown, apricot-red, and gray-white; the inner surface of the shell is white, brown, or pink.
