3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined by IEC 61196-1 apply to this document.
4 Maximum tensile test of cables
4.1 Principle
This test determines the ability of the cable to withstand the maximum allowable load specified by the sub-specific specification or detailed specification.
4.2 Sample preparation
Take a sample of a finished cable at least 6m long for testing. Prepare and equip adapters at both ends for test power
The characteristic impedance of the cable sample.
4.3 Procedures
Install the cable clamps as close to both ends of the cable as possible (not on the connector) and install it on the tensioning device
on. One end is fixed and the other end is equipped with a tension gauge and ratchet traction device. Connect the sample to the impedance tester.
Apply 10% of the maximum tensile force specified by the relevant cable specification between the cable gripping devices and do two on the cable
Baseline markers, 1.5m apart.
Note. Be careful not to damage the connection between the cable and the connector during the test.
Test the characteristic impedance of the cable between the reference marks as specified in IEC 61196-1-115 (Procedure B); gradually increase the tension to the specified load
