This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents"

This document replaces GB/T 17588-1998 "Basic terminology of grinding wheels". Compared with GB/T 17588-1998, except for the structural adjustment,
Besides the editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) Added "high feed grinding", "finishing grinding", "centerless grinding", "follow-up grinding", "ductile region grinding", "high speed grinding", "ultra-high speed grinding", etc.
Terminology of grinding methods (see 6.6.6 to 6.6.12);
b) Added the term "grinding allowance" (see 8.6);
c) The term “grinding specific energy” is added (see 9.3).
This document is modified to adopt ISO 3002-5.1989 "Fundamental parameters of cutting and grinding — Part 5.Basic terminology for grinding with abrasive wheels".
This document has the following structural adjustments compared to ISO 3002-5.1989.
--- Introduction corresponds to Chapter 1 of ISO 3002-5.1989, and Chapter 1 has been redrafted;
---Added 6.6.6 to 6.6.12 in 6.6;
--- Added 8.6 in Chapter 8;
--- Added 9.3 in Chapter 9.
The technical differences between this document and ISO 3002-5.1989 and their reasons are as follows.
--- Replaced ISO 3002-1.1982, ISO 3002-3.1984 and ISO 3002-4 with the normative reference GB/T 12204-2010.
