Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 17040-2008 "Determination of sulfur content in petroleum and petroleum products by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry",
The main technical changes of this standard compared with GB/T 17040-2008 except for editorial changes are as follows.
--- Expanded the measurement range of sulfur content. The standard measures the sulfur mass range from 0.0017% (17mg/kg) to 4.6%.
(46000mg/kg), in GB/T 17040-2008, the determination of sulfur mass fraction ranged from 0.0150% to 5.00% (see
Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.2008 edition);
--- Added reference standards GB/T 8170, GB/T 27867, NB/SH/T 0843, ASTMD6259, ASTMD7343, take
Eliminated GB/T 4076 and SH/T 0253 in GB/T 17040-2008 (see Chapter 2, Chapter 2 of the.2008 edition);
--- Added drift monitoring samples, polysulfide oil, helium, probe gas and four reagents and materials (see 6.3, 6.4, 6.7 and 6.8,
Chapter 7 of the.2008 edition);
--- Added the formula for calculating the sulfur mass fraction when preparing standard samples with other sulfur-containing substances except di-n-butyl sulfide (see 8.1,
Chapter 9 of the.2008 edition);
--- Added method for preparing standard samples with polysulfide oil (see 8.1.2, Chapter 9 of the.2008 edition);
--- The recommended sulfur content calibration range is three series, two series in GB/T 17040-2008 (see Chapter 8,
Chapter 9 of the.2008 edition);
--- For both calibration and sample determination, repeat the test only on standard samples or samples with a sulfur mass fraction of less than 100 mg/kg.
All samples in GB/T 17040-2008 are subject to repeated determination (see 8.3 and 11.4,.2008 edition).
Chapter 11);
--- The test results are reported in two ways with a quality score of 0.01%. In GB/T 17040-2008, the reporting method is one.
Species (see Chapter 14, Chapter 14 of the.2008 edition);
--- Revised the formula for repeatability calculation (see 15.1.2, 15.1.2 of the.2008 edition);
--- Modified the formula for reproducibility calculation (see 15.1.3, 15.1.3 of the.2008 edition);
--- Increased treatment of oxygenated fuels (see Appendix B);
--- Increased diesel precision (see Appendix C);
--- Increased gasoline precision (see Appendix D);
--- Deleted keywords, because the content does not belong to the standard content of our country (see Chapter 16 of the.2008 edition).
This standard is proposed and managed by the National Petroleum Products and Lubricants Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC280).

Introduction
The quality of many petroleum products is related to their sulfur content. Understanding the sulfur content is essential for the petroleum processing process. Relevant standard pass limit
The sulfur content of the fuel is used to prevent or limit environmental pollution. This standard is to determine whether the sulfur content of petroleum and petroleum products meets the specification limits.
The rating provides a means.
If the sample measured by this standard is significantly different from the matrix of the standard sample in 8.1, then it should be noted in Appendix A.
The results of the analysis will be disturbed.
This standard can quickly and accurately determine the sulfur content of petroleum and petroleum products. Sample processing is simple, generally when analyzing a sample
The interval is 1min~5min.

Caution - This standard covers certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but does not recommend any safety issues involved. because
Therefore, before using this standard, users should establish appropriate safety and protection measures and determine the applicability of relevant regulatory restrictions. For some
See Sections 6.2 and 6.4 for specific precautions.
1 Scope
This standard specifies test methods for the determination of sulfur in petroleum and petroleum products by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry.
This standard applies to the determination of single-phase, oil or petroleum products that are liquid at normal temperature or under appropriate heating, or that can be dissolved in hydrocarbon solvents.
Products, including motor gasoline, ethanol gasoline, diesel, biodiesel and its blended fuel, jet fuel, kerosene, other distillates, naphtha, residual oil,
Crude oil, lubricating base oils, hydraulic oils and similar petroleum products.
This standard applies to the determination of sulfur mass fraction ranging from 0.0017% (17mg/kg) to 4.6% (46000mg/kg).

3 Method summary
The sample is placed in a beam of radiation emitted from an X-ray source, and the sulfur Xα characteristic X-ray with an excitation energy of 2.3 keV is measured.
Intensity, and compare the cumulative count to the count of the pre-prepared standard sample to obtain the sulfur content expressed in mass fraction (see
ASTMD7343). At least 3 sets of standard samples are required to cover the mass fraction range. 0.0%~0.1%, 0.1%~1.0%, 1.0%~
5.0%.
4 method use conditions
The premise of this standard is that the matrix of the standard sample and the sample to be tested are matched or the matrix is considered (see A.2). Tested
The difference in hydrocarbon mass ratio (mC/mH) between the sample and the standard sample (see Appendix A) or the presence of other heteroatoms can result in a matrix mismatch.
Table 1 shows the allowable contents of the presence of heteroatoms and ethanol and methanol in the sample to be tested.
