This document is Part 1 of GB 4404 “Grain Crop Seeds”. GB 4404 has been published in the following parts.

This document replaces GB 4404.1-2008 "Grain Crop Seeds Part 1.Cereals", GB 4404.3-2010 "Grain Crop Seeds
GB 4404.4-2010 "Grain Crop Seeds Part 4.Buckwheat", GB 4404.1-2008,
Compared with GB 4404.3-2010 and GB 4404.4-2010, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
--- Added terms and definitions for authenticity of genetically modified varieties and purity of genetically modified varieties (see 3.7 and 3.8);
--- Changed some quality indicators of rice seeds (see 4.1, 4.2.2 of GB 4404.1-2008);
--- Changed some corn seed quality indicators (see 4.2.1, 4.2.2 of GB 4404.1-2008), added genetically modified corn varieties
Authenticity, purity of genetically modified herbicides and insect resistance (see 4.2.2);
--- Changed the quality index of germination rate of conventional wheat seeds (see 4.3, 4.2.3 of GB 4404.1-2008);

Introduction
The Seed Law of the People's Republic of China stipulates that seeds with "quality lower than the national standards" or "quality lower than the indicators marked on the label" are inferior.
Clarifying the minimum quality requirements for important crop seeds is not only a requirement for implementing national laws, but also a way to ensure seed quality and maintain
The need to protect the order of the seed market and the vital interests of seed users (farmers). According to convention, crop seeds can be divided into grain crop seeds,
Oil crop seeds, cash crop seeds, vegetable crop seeds, etc. Among them, grain crop seeds are an important component of crop seeds.
GB 4404 divides grain crop seeds into the following two parts.
--- Part 1.Cereals;
--- Part 2.Legumes.
The seed quality requirements in this document are the minimum quality commitments that seed producers and operators should make and are the legal basis for punishing inferior seeds and processed seeds.
It is an important basis for resolving disputes over sub-quality.
