1 General provisions

1.0, 1 This Code is prepared to unify the technical standards in the design of railway water supply and drainage works, enabling the design to be safe, reliable, advanced, well proven, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective. 1.0.2 This Code is applicable to the design of water supply and drainage works for project or upgrading of existing railway project. 1.0.3 The design of railway water supply and drainage works shall implement national policies conservation, energy conservation and environmental protection. The water supply plan and sewage discharge plan shall be made in consideration of the layout of railway station areas, the overall urban plan and the specialized plan for water supply and drainage works. For upgrading of existing water supply and drainage works, the existing buildings, structures and equipment should be utilized. 1.0.4 The design period of railway water supply and drainage works shall be divided into the short term and the long term. The short term refers to the tenth year and the long term refers to the twentieth year, after delivery for operation. The following technical standards of water supply and drainage structures shall be determined based on the long term. 1 The capacity of water source and the scale of related structure. 2 The scales of water pump well, pump house, and vacuum station. 3 The water supply main, water tower, and high-elevation water tank. 4 The site of water supply plant (station) and sewage treatment station. 1.0.5 The design of railway water supply and drainage works shall adopt well-proven, safe and reliable. 1.0.6 The design working life of railway water supply and drainage structure shall comply with the requirements of relevant standards of China. When related to the main railway works, it shall also comply with the requirements of the design working life of the main railway works. The design working lives of pipes and special equipment should be determined through technical and comparison according to their materials and the update period of products. 1.0.7 The design of water supply and drainage works shall comply with not only the requirements of this Code, but also those of the relevant current standards of China.

3 Basic Requirements

3.0.1 The means of water supply shall be determined according to the requirements of water quality, quantity and pressure. 3.0.2 The capacity of railway water supply stations shall meet the requirements of transportation, production, household use, firefighting, road wetting, and greening. 3.0.3 The firefighting water supply system of super-large and large passenger stations may be combined with productive and domestic water supply systems. The firefighting water supply system of other stations (points) and the stabling siding of EMU depot (shed) should be separated from productive and domestic water supply systems. 3.0.4 The design plan of drainage works shall be determined through technical and economic comparison and according to the quality and quantity of water to be discharged, the position of outlet , the functional requirements of the receiving waters, and the status quo and planning of nearby drainage system. 3.0.5 The sewage discharge at stations and depots (points) shall be synthetically planned and properly region should be centrally treated. Thethelaid out. 3.0.6 The sewage should be discharged into the urban drainage network. For regions without urban drainage network or regions where the urban drainage network is not accessible, the sewage shall be treated and shall not be discharged until its quality complies with national and regional requirements. 3.0.7 The sewage containing pollutants of the first class such as lead and chromium must be separately collected and treated and shall not be discharged until its quality complies with the requirements of same station area or same Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard (GB 8978) and relevant local standards. 3.0.8 The rain water on the roof of large -scale buildings and the sewage of stations and depots (points) may be reused after collection and treatment. The quality of water to be reused shall comply with the requirements of relevant standards such as The Reuse of Recycling Water for Urban-Water Quality Standard for Urban Miscellaneous Water Consumption ( GB/T 18920 ) and Standard for Recycling Water Quality of Railway (TB/T 3007). 3.0.9 The facilities for disinfecting sewage at sewage treatment stations shall be designed according to the quality of sewage, the discharging criteria, and the quality requirements on water to be reused. 3.0.10 The water supply and drainage pipes and sewage discharge pipes should be synthetically designed with comprehensive pipe trenches, flood discharge culverts, traffic culverts. The pipes between tracks may be laid in pipe trenches. The of water supply and drainage wells at platform should be coordinated with the platform pavement. Falling-prevention devices shall be installed for drainage wells. 3.0.11 The design of potable water system at passenger station shall comply with the requirements of Technical Specification of Pipe System for Fine Drinking Water (CJJ 110). 3.0.12 The EMU depot (shed) and passenger train servicing point shall be provided with water supply facilities for passenger train and sewage discharge facilities for passenger train. 3.0.13 The water supply facilities for passenger train, firefighting facilities, sewage discharge facilities for passenger train, etc. must not intrude into the railway structure clearances. 3.0.14 The water supply and drainage system shall be provide with metering installation. 3.0.15 The drainage pumping station at underwater tunnels, underground stations and U-shaped cutting shall meet the requirements of the Class 工 electric power supply. 3.0.16 The separately-built water source wells, water storage and distribution structures, water supply plants (points), sewage treatment stations, water supply and drainage pumping stations, stations, etc. shall be enclosed with walls at least 2.5 m high, and shall be provided with Patrol roads shall be built between the main production buildings (structures) within water supply plant (point) or within sewage treatment station. Places with falling down risks shall be equipped with safety facilities such as safety barrier, anti-slipping ladder, and safety sign. 3.0.17 The water supply plants (points), sewage treatment stations, and vacuum stations shall be provided with lighting device and liaison telephones. The water supply plants (points) and sewage treatment stations shall be provided with necessary equipment for inspection, repair, and water quality testing. 3.0.18 In regions with shortage of water resources, the rain water, saline water or be used as water sources. 3.0.19 The design of water supply and drainage works shall minimize the impact on the environment shall be taken to and buildings (structures) nearby, and safety of railway lines in operation. 3.0.20 The water supply and drainage works at water supply stations shall be provided with automatic control system. The main facilities of unattended domestic water supply stations (points) shall be able to operate automatically. The water source wells and main structures for water storage and distribution should be provided with video surveillance devices. 4 Water Supply Station and Domestic Water Supply Station (Point) 4. 0.1 The design standard for water supply station shall apply to the following locations. 4. 0.2 The water supply station for passenger train should be arranged at district stations, stations with passenger train inspection or with EMU depots (sheds), stations with departure-arrival trains and turning-back passenger trains, and other large stations. For railways with design speed of passenger trains not exceeding 200 km/h, the interval between adjacent water supply stations for passenger train should be 250 km〜400 km. 4.0.3 The design standard of domestic water supply station shall apply to stations other than those listed in Article 4.0.1. The design standard of domestic water supply point shall apply to work block house, traction substation, bridge/tunnel guarding house, firefighting point for tunnel, etc. ......
