Foreword
The serial standards, The Reuse of Urban Recycling Water, are drafted, in order to
implement the policies of prevention and control of water pollution and development
and utilization of water resources in China, improve the utilization efficiency of urban
recycling water, improve the urban water conservation, utilize water resources
rationally, fulfill the reuse of urban recycling water; lessen the pollution of recycling
water to the environment and promote the sustainable development of urban
construction and economic construction.
The serial standards, The Reuse of Urban Recycling Water, is currently to be divided
into 5 items.

1 Application Scope
This Standard specifies the classification principles, categories and scope of the reuse
of urban recycling water.
This Standard applies to the planning of water resources utilization and the engineering
design and management of the reuse of urban recycling water. This Standard provides
a basis for the establishment of all kinds of water quality standards for the reuse of
urban recycling water.
2 Normative References
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through
reference in this Standard. For dated references, the subsequent amendments
(excluding corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Standard, however, parties
who reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest
versions of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition
of the referenced document applies.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Urban recycling water
It includes the recycling water discharged into the urban recycling water system by the
established cities and towns. In a river drainage system, it also includes production
wastewater and rainwater intercepted.
3.2 Reuse of urban recycling water
The whole process of utilization includes. urban recycling water is used as reuse water
source; it achieves the usable water quality standard after recycling technology and
purification treatment; it is delivered by pipes or used on site.
