The standard is redrafted according to JIS G 3505.2004. Compared with JIS G 3505.2004, the main technical differences of this Standard are as follows. — Due to different designation, the designation of iron and steel in China is adopted. And the requirements in composition of some elements are adjusted; — The requirements on the cold bending performance arrangement are added; — The requirements on value rounding are added. This Standard replaces GB/T 701-1997 "Hot rolled low carbon steel wire rods". Compared with GB/T 701-1997, the main technical differences are as follows. — The wire rods for building are deleted from the scope of application. And the scope of application is revised as "low-carbon steel hot-rolled wire rods for deep processing and other general purpose"; — The chapter "order content" is added; — The steel grades are deleted. They are unified as Q195, Q215 and Q235. Designation Q275 is added; ——The requirements in sulfur and phosphorus contents of the steel are revised; — The tensile strength and elongation after fracture of steels are revised; — The clause "surface quality" is revised; — The clause "test rules" is revised. And the requirements on the mixed group of different furnace numbers are deleted; — The clause "smelting process" is revised. And the open-hearth furnace smelting is deleted; — The requirements on value rounding are added. This Standard was proposed by China Iron & Steel Association. This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the State Technical Committee for Standardization of Steel. Drafting organizations of this Standard. Hot Rolled Low Carbon Steel Wire Rods 1 Scope This Standard specifies order content, dimension and shape, weight and allowable deviation, technical requirements, test methods, test rules and packing, marking and quality certificate of hot-rolled low-carbon steel wire rods. This Standard is applicable to low-carbon steel hot-rolled wire rods for deep processing and other general purpose.
