This document is applicable to vehicles such as motor vehicles, motorcycles (including mopeds), trailers, trolleybuses, tractors that make up a tractor transport unit, wheeled special machinery vehicles, and special-size power- driven vehicles. 2 Normative references The contents of the following documents, through normative references in this text, constitute indispensable provisions of this document. Among them, for dated references, only the edition corresponding to that date applies to this document. For undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document. GB/T 3730.1 Motor vehicles and trailers - Types - Terms and definitions GB/T 5359.1 Term for motorcycles and mopeds - Part 1: Types of vehicles GB 7258 Technical specifications for safety of power-driven vehicles operating on roads GB/T 19678.1 Preparation of instructions for use - Structuring, content and presentation - Part 1: General principles and detailed requirements 3 Terms and definitions The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 3730.1, GB/T 5359.1, GB 7258, and GB/T 19678.1 and the following ones apply to this document. 3.1 Instruction for the use of power-driven vehicles The technical information related to functions, performance, and characteristics of power-driven vehicles, which is distributed by the vehicle manufacturer to convey to users how to use power-driven vehicles correctly, safely and effectively, to avoid reasonably foreseeable misuse. 4 Basic requirements 4.1 The vehicle manufacturer shall issue an instruction for the use of power- driven vehicle (hereinafter referred to as the instruction) to the vehicle, which has been manufactured and passed the inspection. Its content shall be compatible with the actual state of the vehicle. 4.2 The vehicle manufacturer shall use the printed version and the electronic version (if any) to issue the instructions. The electronic version of the instruction shall be the full version; shall be distributed through the on-board display terminal or the official website of the vehicle manufacturer. 4.3 The printed instruction issued with the vehicle shall at least contain the relevant content specified in Clause 5. If the printed instruction is not the full version of the instruction, the public way to obtain the full version shall be indicated in the printed instruction. The basic requirements of the printed instruction include: - It can be combined according to model series. The instruction shall use text to indicate the structural parameters and technical characteristics consistent with the model (vehicle model). When necessary, illustrations shall be used to assist in explanation. For the differences between different configurations, prompts and obvious distinctions shall be made. There shall be no configurations which are not available in the model series; - The cover has the words "Instruction" and a name for accurately identifying the product type; - In an eye-catching position, it is marked with "Read this instruction carefully before use and keep it properly after reading" or similar words; - In an eye-catching position, the user shall be reminded to prohibit illegal modification of the vehicle; - Indicate the name of the vehicle manufacturer, the official website and contact information, the publication date and version number, etc.; - Indicate the reasonable responsibility statement, legal statement and instructions of the vehicle manufacturer; but it shall not be used to cover up product defects. If the content of the printed instruction changes, it can be revised by inserting supply; - Equipment performance and parameter descriptions for charging, hydrogenation, and external power supply; - Recycling instructions for power batteries. 5.3 For vehicles with driving automation (including driving assistance and automatic driving) functions, the printed instruction shall also include at least the following: - Driving automation functions and corresponding design operating conditions [including design operating range, vehicle state, driver state (if any)]; - The meaning of various visual, acoustic, and tactile signals related to the driving automation system; - Explain the operation method of the driving automation function, with illustrations at least; - The dynamic driving tasks performed by the driver in different working states of the driving automation system and the driver's role in the dynamic driving task takeover; - A description of the possible risks of using driving automation functions; - Emergency response to accidents when using driving automation functions. 6 Preparation and printing requirements 6.1 Representation principles 6.1.1 The instruction shall be written in simplified Chinese characters. When instructions in more than one language are required, the Chinese instruction shall be placed before other languages. The Chinese shall be eye-catching and prominent. The instructions in each language shall be clearly separated. 6.1.2 The description of the contents of the instruction shall be scientific, reasonable, and in accordance with the operating procedures. The sentences and vocabulary used shall be standardized, with pictures and texts; concise and easy to understand; complete and accurate; easy for ordinary users to read, understand and operate. Avoid using engineering technical terminology. If it is unavoidable, there shall be definitions and explanations. 6.1.3 A sentence in the instruction shall contain only one requirement, or at most several closely related requirements. And it shall meet the following requirements: - The active voice of verb shall be used instead of using passive voice (e.g. "Turn off the power" instead of "Make sure the power is interrupted"); - The requirement shall be decisive and strong, but not vaguely weak (e.g. "Do not move bracelets" instead of "Bracelets shall not be moved); - Action verbs shall be used instead of abstract nouns (e.g. "Avoid accidents" instead of "Avoidance of accidents"); - The expression shall be straightforward and not euphemistic (e.g. "Pull back the joystick" instead of "The user pulls the joystick back from the machine"). 6.1.4 The safety warning information in the instruction shall, based on different levels of danger, use grading methods and corresponding warning words. And it shall use a larger font size or different fonts to represent or use special symbols and colors to emphasize. 6.1.5 In order to achieve the best effect, the format and writing of safety warnings shall consider the following points: - The content and illustrations shall be concise and to the point; - The location, content and form of safety warnings shall be eye-catching; - Explain the nature of the hazard (if necessary, explain the cause of the hazard); - Give clear instructions on how to operate correctly; - Give clear instructions on how to avoid danger; - The language, graphic symbols and illustrations used shall be clear and accurate; - Remember that frequent repeated warnings and wrong warnings will weaken the effectiveness of necessary warnings. 6.1.6 The instruction shall use a concise title to help users quickly find what they need. For the same instruction or an instruction composed of multiple copies, the relevant information of important parts shall be clearly guided for easy query. 6.2 Illustrations, tables, symbols, terms ......
