Non-destructive testing instruments - Ultrasonic time-
of-flight diffraction instrument - Technical
requirements
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the technical requirements, inspection rules, marking,
packaging, transportation and storage of ultrasonic time-of-flight diffraction
instrument.
This Standard applies to the UTOFD instrument.
2 Normative references
The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document.

3 Terms and definitions
Terms and definitions determined by GB/T 12604.1 and the following ones are
applicable to this document.
3.1 Ultrasonic time-of-flight diffraction; UTOFD
The frequency bandwidth (-3 dB) shall cover the bandwidth from half the
nominal lowest operating frequency to twice the nominal highest operating
frequency.
Example: When the nominal operating frequency range is 1 MHz ~ 7.5 MHz,
the bandwidth of the instrument is 0.5 MHz ~ 15 MHz.
4.3 Dynamic range
The dynamic range shall not be less than 100 dB.
4.4 Time base linearity error
The time base linearity error shall not be greater than ±0.5%.
4.5 Vertical linearity error
The vertical linearity error shall not be greater than ±2% of the full-screen signal.
4.6 Equivalent input noise
The equivalent input noise shall be less than 100×10-9 V/Hz1/2.
4.7 Transmitted pulse voltage amplitude
The excitation waveform of the transmitted pulse mainly includes sharp pulses,
unipolar square wave pulses and bipolar square wave pulses; the voltage
amplitude shall be adjustable; the peak-to-peak value shall not be less than 200
V.
4.8 Transmitted pulse rise time
The transmitted pulse rise time is the time for the pulse front amplitude to rise
from 10% to 90% of the pulse peak value, which shall be less than 0.25 times
the period time of the nominal frequency of the highest possible probe.
4.9 Transmitted pulse duration (pulse width)
The minimum pulse width shall be greater than or equal to half the cycle time
of the nominal maximum operating frequency; the maximum pulse width shall
be less than or equal to half the cycle time of the nominal minimum operating
frequency. The pulse width adjustment step length shall be less than 10% of
the target pulse width.
4.10 Transmitted pulse recoil amplitude
The transmitted pulse recoil amplitude shall be less than 4% of the peak-to-
peak transmitted pulse voltage.
The power supply mode of the instrument shall be DC battery power supply or
AC adapter power supply.
4.21 Appearance quality
The appearance quality requirements of the instrument shall meet the relevant
regulations in Chapter 10 of GB/T 2611-2007.
4.22 Temperature resistance
The temperature resistance performance requirements of the instrument shall
meet the relevant regulations in Chapter 3 of GB/T 25480-2010.
4.23 Humidity resistance
The humidity resistance performance requirements of the instrument shall meet
the relevant regulations in Chapter 3 of GB/T 25480-2010.
4.24 Anti-vibration
The anti-vibration performance of the instrument shall meet the requirements
for group-II instruments that are specified in 4.7 of GB/T 6587-2012.
4.25 Shock resistance
The shock resistance of the instrument shall meet the requirements for group-
II instruments that are specified in 4.7 of GB/T 6587-2012.
5 Inspection rules
5.1 Delivery inspection
5.1.1 All the delivered products shall be inspected by the manufacturer's quality
inspection department for the delivery inspection items, and issued with the
product qualification certificate, before leaving the factory.
5.1.2 The delivery inspection shall be carried out in accordance with the items
that are specified in Table 1.
5.2 Type inspection
5.2.1 Type inspection shall be carried out in any of the following situations:
a) Type identification of new products or old products that are transferred to
the factory;
b) After formal production, if there are major changes in structure, materials
and processes, which may affect product performance;
5.3.1 For the delivery inspection, it is qualified if all inspection items of each
detector meet the requirements.
5.3.2 For the type inspection, when the batch size is not more than 50 units,
take 2 samples; if 1 sample is unqualified after the inspection, judge the batch
of products to be unqualified. When the batch size is greater than 50 units, take
5 samples; if there are 2 or more unqualified products in the sample after
inspection, judge the batch of products to be unqualified.
6 Marking, packaging, transportation and storage
6.1 Marking
The nameplate of each instrument shall be fixed at the obvious position of the
shell; its contents include:
a) Specification, model, number;
b) Manufacturer's name and trademark.
6.2 Packaging
6.2.1 The packaging of the instrument shall comply with the provisions of
Chapter 5 in JB/T 6147-2007.
6.2.2 The characters and signs on the outer wall of the packaging box shall be
clear, and shall not be blurred due to handling friction. The contents include:
a) Product name;
b) Receiving unit, address and telephone number;
c) Forwarding unit, address and telephone number;
d) The packaging box shall have signs such as "fragile items", "upward", "fear
of rain", "no rollover", and comply with the requirements of Table 1 in GB/T
191-2008.
6.2.3 The following documents shall be attached to the package:
a) Product packing list;
b) Product certification;
c) Product manual, which shall be marked with the implementation standard
number.
