This Standard modifies and adopts ISO 105-C10.2006 "Textiles - Tests for Colour
Fastness - Part C10. Colour Fastness to Washing with Soap or Soap and Soda".
Compared with ISO 105-C10.2006, the main differences in this Standard are as
follows.
1. The international standards specified in normative references are replaced by
corresponding national standards;
2. The flax adjacent fabrics complying with GB/T 13765 are added in Table 1.
3. The rinsing method of composite-specimens after washing in 7.3 is improved.
This Standard shall replace GB/T 3921.1-1997 "Textiles - Tests for Colour Fastness -
Colour Fastness to Washing. Test 1", GB/T 3921.2-1997 "Textiles - Tests for Colour
Fastness - Colour Fastness to Washing. Test 2", GB/T 3921.3-1997 "Textiles - Tests
for Colour Fastness - Colour Fastness to Washing. Test 3", GB/T 3921.4-1997
"Textiles - Tests for Colour Fastness - Colour Fastness to Washing. Test 4" and GB/T
3921.5-1997 "Textiles - Tests for Colour Fastness - Colour Fastness to Washing. Test
5".
Compared with GB/T 3921.1~3921.5-1997, the main changes in this Standard are as
follows.
1. Five parts of the original standards are integrated as one standard;
2. The professional standard of the instrumental assessment and international
standard of acetate adjacent fabrics are added in normative references;
3. The recommendation on the mechanical stirring device and heating soap
solution device is added;
4. The requirements of multi-fibre adjacent fabrics adopted for different test
methods are added;
5. The selection method for the second piece of single-fibre adjacent fabrics tested
at 60°C and 95°C is modified;
6. The rinsing method of composite specimens after washing is modified;
7. The optional assessment method for the change in colour of the specimen or the
staining of adjacent fabric instrumentally is added.
This Standard was proposed by China National Textile and Apparel Council.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the Basic Standard Subcommittee of
Technical Committee on Textiles of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC
209/SC 1).

Textiles - Tests for Colour Fastness - Colour Fastness to
Washing with Soap or Soap and Soda
1 Scope
This Standard specifies methods for determining the colour fastness to washing of all
kinds of textiles that are commonly used in households, It includes 5 type of tests on
different washing procedures - from mild to severe procedure.
This Standard is only used to determine the effect of washing on the colour fastness of
the textile. It is not intended to reflect the result of the comprehensive laundering
procedure.

them twice in Grade 3 water (5.4) respectively. Then rinse them clean in running
water.
7.4 For all methods, extract the excess water from the composite-specimen by
squeezing the test specimen by hand.
Open out the composite-specimen by cutting the stitching except on one of the
shorter sides if necessary.
7.5 Dry the specimen by pressing it flat between two filter papers to remove excess
water. Then dry by hanging it in air at a temperature not exceeding 60 °C; the
specimen and adjacent fabric are contacted only at the line of stitching.
7.6 Assess the change in colour of the specimen and the staining of the adjacent
fabric with reference to the original specimen by using either the grey scales or
instrument. See GB 250, GB 251, GB/T 8424.3, FZ/T 01023 and FZ/T 01024.
