5 Ordering Content
The contract that orders products as per this Standard shall contain the following
contents:
a) This Standard number;
b) Product name;
c) Designation of steel bar;
d) Nominal diameter, length and weight of steel bar (or quantity, or disc weight);
e) Special requirements.
6 Size, Shape, Weight and Allowable Deviation
The size, shape, weight and allowable deviation of plain bars shall conform to the
provisions of GB/T 1499.1; while the size, shape, weight and allowable deviation of
ribbed bars shall conform to the provisions of GB/T 1499.2.
7 Technical Requirements
7.1 Smelting method
The steel shall be smelted in a converter or an electric arc furnace; and may be refining
outside the furnace, if necessary.
7.2 Designation chemical composition
7.2.1 The designation, chemical composition and carbon equivalent (smelting analysis)
of steel bars shall conform to the provisions of Table 2.

Carbon equivalent
Ceq / %
Welding Mechanical connection
The rounding off and judgment for values of inspection results shall conform to the
provisions of YB/T 081.
9 Inspection Rules
9.1 Inspection classification
The inspection of steel bar can be divided into characteristic-value inspection and
delivery inspection.
9.2 Characteristic-value inspection
9.2.1 The Characteristic-value inspection is applicable to the following cases:
a) Supplier’s inspection on the product quality control;
b) Inspection proposed by purchaser, and agreed between the supplier and the
purchaser;
c) Inspection for the third-party product certification and arbitration.
9.2.2 The characteristic-value inspection shall be carried out as per the provisions of
Appendix A.
9.3 Delivery inspection
9.3.1 Applicable cases
The delivery inspection is applicable to the inspection on the acceptance batch of steel
bars.
9.3.2 Batching rules
The steel bars shall be inspected and accepted in batches. Each batch consists of the
steel bars with the same designation, the same furnace-number, the same
specification. The weight per batch is usually no greater than 60t. For the portion
exceeding 60t, add a tensile test specimen and a bending test specimen for increasing
per 40t (or remainder for less than 40t).
9.3.3 Inspection items and sampling quantity
The inspection items and sampling quantity of steel bars shall conform to the
provisions of Table 6 and 9.3.2.
9.3.4 Inspection results
Appendix A
(Normative)
Characteristic-Value Inspection Rules
A.1 Test batches and sampling quantities
A.1.1 Test batches
For the benefit of test, the delivery shall be further divided into test batches. The
batching rules shall conform to the provisions of 9.3.2.
A.1.2 Sampling quantities per batch
A.1.2.1 The chemical compositions (finished-product analysis) shall take two
specimens from different pieces of steel bars.
A.1.2.2 The mechanical property test, and the like tests shall take 15 specimens from
different pieces of steel bars (if 60 specimens are applicable, see provisions of A.2.1).
A.2 Assessment of test results
A.2.1 Parameter inspection
In order to inspect the specified properties, such as characteristic parameters ReL, Rm,
Agt or A, the following parameters shall be determined:
a) All individual values of Xi (n=15) for 15 specimens;
b) Average value m15 (n=15);
c) Standard deviation S15 (n=15).
If all properties satisfy the conditions given in Formula (A.1), then such test batch meet
the requirements.
Where:
fk – the required characteristic-value;
2.33 – if n=15, 90% confidence level (1-a = 0.90), the unqualified rate 5% (P=0.95),
then it indicates the value of acceptance coefficient k.
