Interior wall coatings for children’s room decorating
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, product classification,
requirements, test methods, inspection rules and markings, packaging and
storage of interior wall coatings for children's room decoration.
This standard is applicable to interior wall coatings which are prepared by using
synthetic resin emulsion as base material, as well as pigments, extender
pigments and various additives, and which, after application, can form a thin
surface coating with smooth surface, including topcoat and primer. This product
is mainly used for interior wall decoration of children's rooms, kindergartens and
other children's activity places.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For
the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable
to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including
all the amendments) are applicable to this standard.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Volatile organic compounds; VOC
Any organic liquid and/or solid that can naturally evaporate at the normal
temperature and pressure of the atmosphere.
3.2
Volatile organic compound content
The mass of volatile organic compounds presented in the coating as
measured under specified conditions.
4 Product classification
This standard is divided into interior wall primer and interior wall finish in
accordance with the different uses of the product.
5 Requirements
5.1 Quality performance requirements
The quality performance of the product shall comply with the requirements of
Table 1.
5.2 Limit requirements for hazardous substances
The hazardous substances limit of the product shall comply with the
requirements of Table 2.
6 Test methods
6.1 Sampling
The product is sampled in accordance with GB/T 3186, it can also be sampled
in accordance with the agreed method. The amount of sampling is determined
in accordance with the inspection needs.
6.4 Preparation of test panel
6.4.1 Specimen preparation
When the product to be inspected is not clearly indicated of the dilution ratio,
stir it evenly and then make a slab. When the product to be inspected indicates
the dilution ratio, except for the contrast ratio item, for all the items that need to
be tested by preparing slab, it shall prepare the slab after mixing it uniformly in
accordance with the specified dilution ratio. If the ratio is a certain range, it shall
take the middle value.
6.4.2 Preparation of primer test panel
6.4.2.1 The primer panel is made by brushing method. Each sample is first
measured for density D in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 6750-2007,
the brushing mass is calculated in accordance with formula (1).
6.4.2.2 Unless otherwise agreed, the substrate type, test panel size, test panel
quantity, brushing amount and curing period of each test item of primer shall
comply with the requirements of Table 3.
6.4.3 Preparation of finish test panel
6.4.3.1 Unless otherwise agreed, except for the workability, film appearance,
scrub resistance and stain resistance comprehensive item, the rest of the finish
required for inspection for panel preparation uses the wire rod applicator which
is made by stainless steel materials for panel preparation.
6.4.3.2 Unless otherwise agreed, the type of substrate, the size of the test panel,
the number of test panels, the size of the applicator, the number of application
courses and the curing period of each inspection item of the finish shall comply
with the requirements of Table 5.When two courses are applied, the two
courses are applied by a time interval of 6 h.
6.5 Method of operation
6.5.1 General requirements
Unless otherwise specified, only reagents identified as chemically pure and of
above purity and distilled or deionized water in accordance with the grade III
water requirements of GB/T 6682-2008 are used in the test. The test solution
was pre-adjusted to the test temperature before the test.
6.5.4 Drying time
It is performed in accordance with the provisions of Table B of GB/T 1728-1979.
6.5.5 Appearance of paint film
The test panel after the test of 6.5.3 is placed for 24 hours, perform visual
inspection against the coating film, if there is no significant shrinkage cavity and
the coating film is uniform, it is rated as “normal”.
7 Inspection rules
7.1 Inspection classification
7.1.1 Product inspection is divided into exit-factory inspection and type
inspection.
7.1.2 The primer exit-factory inspection items include the state in the container,
the workability, the drying time, and the appearance of the film.
7.2 Determination of inspection results
7.2.1 The judgment of the inspection result shall be carried out in accordance
with the provisions of the rounding off value comparison method in GB/T 8170-
2008.
7.2.2 When the test results of all items meet the requirements of this standard,
the test samples are in compliance with the requirements of this standard.
8 Marking, packaging and storage
8.1 Marking
It is performed in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 9750.If it needs to
add water to dilute, it shall specify the dilution ratio.
8.2 Packaging
It is performed in accordance with the provisions of the secondary packaging
requirements of GB/T 13491.
8.3 Storage
When storing the product, it shall be ventilated, dry, and protected from direct
sunlight. In winter, it shall take appropriate anti-freezing measures.
