Extruded aluminum alloy flat bars and plates
with high conductivity
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules,
symbols, packaging, transportation, storage, and contents of the quality
certificate and order form (or contract) of the extruded aluminum alloy flat bars
and plates with high conductivity.
This Standard is applicable to the extruded aluminum alloy flat bars and plates
used in transmission, substation, distribution and other sectors (hereinafter
referred to as “flat bars and plates”).
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For
dated references, only the editions with the dates indicated are applicable to
this document. For undated references, only the latest editions (including all the
amendments) are applicable to this document.
GB/T 232 Metallic materials - Bend test
GB/T 3048.2 Test methods for electrical properties of electric cables and
wires - Part 2. Test of electrical resistivity of metallic materials
GB/T 3190 Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy - Chemical composition
GB/T 3199 Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy products - Packing,
marking, transporting and storing
GB/T 3246.1 Inspection method for structure of wrought aluminum and
aluminum alloy products - Part 1. Inspection method for microstructure

GB/T 7999 Optical emission spectrometric analysis method of aluminum and
aluminum alloys
GB/T 8170 Rules of rounding off for numerical values & expression and
judgement of limiting values
3.6 Bending property
For the extruded aluminum alloy flat bars and plates with the grade of 6101,
BEND the wide surfaces at an angle of 90° with the nominal thickness as
bending radius. There shall be no cracks on the wide surfaces. Other
requirements shall be agreed upon by the supplier and demander, and shall be
indicated in the order forms (or contracts) as well.
3.7 Microstructure
There shall be no over-burnt microstructures on the flat bars and plates.
3.8 Appearance quality
The surfaces of the flat bars and plates shall be flat and smooth. There shall be
no cracks, bubbles and corrosion spots. There shall be no fins, burrs or rips on
the rounded corners.
4 Test methods
4.1 Chemical composition
4.1.1 The analytical method of chemical compositions shall conform to the
provisions of GB/T 20975 or GB/T 7999. USE the method specified in GB/T
20975 for referee analysis. During the calculation of “Al” content, TAKE the sum
of the numerical values for analysis of the conventional analytic elements and
the unconventional analytic elements suspected to be excessive as the “sum of
element contents”.
4.1.2 USE the comparison method of rounding values to determine the
numerical values for analysis. The rules of rounding off for numerical values
shall conform to the relevant provisions of GB/T 8170. The round-off digits shall
be the same with the limit digits specified in GB/T 3190.
4.2 Dimensional tolerances
The dimensional rounding off and measurement shall conform to the provisions
of YS/T 439-2012.
4.3 Tensile mechanical properties at room temperature
The method for testing the tensile mechanical properties at room temperature
shall conform to the provisions of GB/T 4909.3.
4.4 Resistivity
> 280 ~ 500 13
> 500 ~ 1,200 20
5.6 Determination of the inspection results
5.6.1 When the chemical compositions of any test piece are unqualified, for
the product whose melting sequence can be distinguished, DETERMINE the
melting sequence represented by this test piece as non-conforming. INSPECT
other melting sequences in succession. DELIVER the conforming products
afterwards. If the products whose melting sequences cannot be distinguished,
DETERMINE this batch of products as non-conforming.
5.6.2 When the dimensional tolerance of any test piece is unqualified,
DETERMINE this batch of products as non-conforming. However, it is allowed
to inspect one by one. DELIVER the conforming products afterwards.
5.6.3 When the tensile mechanical properties at room temperature of any test
piece is unqualified, DOUBLE the number of test pieces taken from this batch
of products for retesting. If all the retesting results are qualified, DETERMINE
this batch of products as conforming. If some properties of the test pieces in the
retesting results are still unqualified, DETERMINE this batch of products as
non-conforming.
5.6.4 When the bending property of any test piece is unqualified,
DETERMINE this batch of products as non-conforming.
5.6.5 When the resistivity of any test piece is unqualified, DETERMINE this
batch of products as non-conforming.
5.6.6 When the microstructure of any test piece is unqualified, DETERMINE
this batch of products as non-conforming.
5.6.7 When the appearance quality of any test piece is unqualified,
DETERMINE this product as non-conforming. However, it is allowed to conduct
re-inspection after removing the non-conforming section. DELIVER the
conforming products afterwards.
