1 Scope
This Standard specifies the definition, classification, requirements, test methods,
inspection rules and packaging mark of water-based coatings for surface decoration
and protection of indoor wooden substrates.
This Standard is applicable to polyurethane, acrylic, acrylic-polyurethane and other
types of room-temperature dry single-component or bi-component water-based
coatings for woodenware.
2 Normative References
Through the reference in this Standard, the clauses of the following documents
become clauses of this Standard. In terms of references with a specified date, all the
subsequent modification sheets (excluding the corrected content) or revised versions
are not applicable to this Standard. However, the various parties that reach an
agreement in accordance with this Standard are encouraged to explore the possibility

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard.
4 Classification of Products
In accordance with the practical purposes and functions, water-based coatings for
woodenware are divided into four types. A, B, C and D, which respectively represent.
5 Requirements
Products shall comply with the requirements of Table 1.
6 Test Methods
6.1 Sampling
Products shall be sampled in accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 3186, or, a
method determined through negotiation. The sampling size shall be determined in
accordance with the inspection demands.
6.3 Preparation of Test panel
Unless it is otherwise stipulated, all panel-making items panels with a single paint type.
In other words, the panels shall be respectively made with finishing coat or primer.
6.4.6 Freeze-thaw resistance
In accordance with the stipulations of 5.5 in GB/T 9755-2001, conduct the test. For bi-
component coating, merely the main agent shall be inspected.
6.4.8 Luster (60°)
In accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 9754, conduct the test.
6.4.9 Polishability
Use 400# water sandpaper to manually polish for 20 times. If the coating film can be
easily polished to a flat and smooth surface, then, it shall be evaluated as “easy to
polish”.
6.4.10 Hardness (scratch)
In accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 6739, conduct the test. The pencil is
ZHONGHUA Brand 101 drawing pencil.
6.4.14 Abrasion resistance
In accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 1768, conduct the test. The used model is
CS-10 rubber grinding wheel.
6.4.15 Scratch resistance
In accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 9279, conduct the test. On the scratching
needle, perform a scratch test with a given load of 100 g. After the test, conduct visual
observation of the test panel at an angle of 45° perpendicular to the scratched direction.
If no scratch is identified, then, it shall be evaluated as “unscratched”.
6.4.17 Alkali resistance
The test and result evaluation method are the same as the room-temperature water
resistance test. The test solution is 50 g/L NaHCO3.The test duration is 1 h. After the
test, place it for 1 h, then, observe it.
6.4.20 Resistance to dry heat
In accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 4893.3-2005, conduct the test. The test
temperature is (70 ± 2) °C; the test duration is 15 min.
6.4.21 Yellowing resistance
In accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 23987, conduct the test. Use UVA (340)
lamp as the light source; place the test panel in a dry phase (non-condensing)
fluorescent ultraviolet aging machine whose test conditions can meet. blackboard
temperature of (60 ± 3) °C and irradiance of 0.68 W/m2.Throughout the process,
7 Inspection Rules
7.1 Inspection Classification
7.1.1 Product inspection is divided into exit-factory inspection and type inspection.
7.2 Determination of Inspection Result
7.2.1 The determination of the inspection result shall be conducted in accordance with
the rounding-off comparison method in GB/T 1250.
8 Marking, Packaging and Storage
8.1 Marking
Marking shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 9750.For coatings composed of bi-
component, the ratio of each component shall be clarified. If it is necessary to add
water for dilution, the dilution ratio shall be clarified.
8.2 Packaging
Packaging shall comply with the stipulations of Level-2 packaging in GB/T 13491.
