3 Terms and Definitions
What is defined in GB/T 18820 and GB/T 21534, and the following terms and
definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 Methyl Alcohol Produced by Coal
Methyl alcohol produced by coal refers to the production process of air separation
oxygen production, coal-to-gas, gas purification, methanol synthesis and methanol
refining, in which, coal, water and air are the main raw materials.
3.2 Methyl Alcohol Product Produced by Coal
Methyl alcohol product produced by coal refers to products that are obtained through
the production process of air separation oxygen production, coal-to-gas, gas
purification, methanol synthesis and methanol refining, in which, coal, water and air
are the main raw materials.
3.3 Quantity of Water Intake for Per Ton Methyl Alcohol Produced by Coal
Quantity of water intake for per ton methyl alcohol produced by coal refers to the
quantity of water that enterprises need to extract from various water resources for the
production of per ton methyl alcohol product produced by coal.
4 Calculation Methods
4.1 General Stipulations
4.1.1 Scope of water intake
Range of water intake refers to the quantity of water that enterprises extract from
various conventional water resources, including water extracted from surface water
(calculated by water supply from water purification plants), underground water, water
supply engineering in cities and towns, and other water or water products (such as
steam, hot water and geothermal water, etc.) that enterprises purchase from the
market.
4.1.2 Range of water intake supply
Range of water intake supply for methyl alcohol produced by coal includes primary
production (the production process of air separation oxygen production, coal-to-gas,
gas purification, methanol synthesis and methanol refining, in which, coal, water and
air are the main raw materials), auxiliary production (including machine maintenance,
boiler, air compression station, sewage treatment station, testing and inspection,
comprehensive utilization transportation and self-owned power plant, etc.) and
subsidiary production (including office, afforestation, plant canteen, bathroom and toilet,
etc.).
4.1.3 Measuring of water intake
The quantity of water intake shall be measured with enterprises’ Level-1 measuring
table.
4.2 Quantity of water intake for Methyl Alcohol Produced by Coal
The quantity of water intake for methyl alcohol produced by coal shall be calculated in
accordance with Formula (1).
Where.
Vi---quantity of water intake for methyl alcohol produced by coal, expressed in (m3);
Vg---water consumption of coal gasification, expressed in (m3);
Vm---water consumption of methanol synthesis unit, expressed in (m3);
Va---water apportionment of ancillary facilities of methyl alcohol produced by coal,
expressed in (m3).
4.3 Quantity of Water Intake for Per Ton Methyl Alcohol Produced by Coal
The quantity of water intake for per ton methyl alcohol produced by coal shall be
calculated in accordance with Formula (2).
Where.
Vui---quantity of water intake for per ton methyl alcohol produced by coal, expressed in
(m3/t);
Vi---within a certain measuring time, total quantity of water intake during the production
process, expressed in (m3);
Q---within a certain measuring time, output of methyl alcohol product produced by coal,
expressed in (t).
5 Norm of Water Intake
5.1 Water Intake Norm of Existing Enterprises
The norm of water intake of existing enterprises in methyl alcohol produced by coal
shall be ≤ 15 m3/t.
5.2 Water Intake Norm of Newly Constructed, Reorganized and Expanded
Enterprises
The norm of water intake of newly constructed, reorganized and expanded enterprises
in methyl alcohol produced by coal shall be ≤ 11 m3/t.
5.3 Water Intake Norm of Advanced Enterprises
The norm of water intake of advanced enterprises in methyl alcohol produced by coal
shall be ≤ 9 m3/t.
6 Instructions for Norm Usage
6.1 In the management of the norm of water intake, enterprises’ water balance test
shall comply with the requirement in GB/T 12452.
6.2 The configuration and management of water measuring instrument for enterprises
in methyl alcohol produced by coal shall comply with the requirement in GB 24789.
6.3 Please refer to Appendix A for the method of calculating the quantity of water intake
for methyl alcohol produced by coal.
Appendix A
(Informative)
Calculation of Quantity of Water Intake for Methyl Alcohol Produced by Coal
In the calculation of the quantity of water intake of methyl alcohol products, how to
obtain the total quantity of water intake within a certain period of production becomes
the key to accurate calculation of water intake quantity of methyl alcohol products. In
accordance with the nature of methyl alcohol product production, the total quantity of
water intake shall be calculated in accordance with this formula.
Where.
Vi---total quantity of water intake;
Vg---water consumption of coal gasification. it refers to water or steam that is consumed
in the stage of methyl alcohol production, which needs coal gasification to generate
effective gas (CO + H2) and obtains methanol synthesis gas through transformation,
refinement and hydrogen distribution. It includes steam, that is involved in chemical
reaction. Mostly, it is steam brought out by effective gas, and cooling washing water
that is generated through the rinsing of effective gas.
Vm---water consumption of methyl alcohol device. it refers to water consumption in the
conversion of circulating water hydration, softened water, demineralized water, steam
and condensate water that are needed in methanol synthesis and the operation of
methanol refining device;
Va---water apportionment of ancillary facilities. it refers to water consumption that is
apportioned to methyl alcohol device at a certain proportion by ancillary facilities
(including office, afforestation, plant canteen, bathroom and toilet, etc.).
