Foreword
This standard is identical to the international standard ISO 12508:1994 Earth-moving
machinery - Operator station and maintenance areas - Bluntness of edges. Most of
Chinese earth-moving machinery standards are identical to or modified in relation to
ISO/TC 127 standards, so as to adapt to international trade, technology and economic
exchanges as soon as possible.
This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Construction of the People's Republic
of China.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the Beijing Construction Machinery
Comprehensive Research Institute, the technical authority for machinery equipment
and vehicle standards under the Ministry of Construction.
Drafting organizations of this standard: Beijing Construction Machinery
Comprehensive Research Institute of the Ministry of Construction, Tianjin Research

1 Scope
This standard specifies the permissible limits for rounding and chamfering of edges and
corners in order to reduce the risk of injury to drivers or maintenance personnel when
operating earth-moving machinery and performing maintenance work.
This standard applies to the operation and maintenance passages and exit devices
specified in GB/T 17299 and GB/T 17300 and the operating space for earth-moving
machinery drivers specified in GB 8498.

3 Technical requirements
If structural edges and corners of metal or non-metal materials (see Figure 1) are hard
enough to bruise or pierce human skin, the structures shall comply with the
requirements of 3.1~3.3.
