The hygienic standards for public places are composed of 5 standards: GB/T
18204 "Examination methods for public places", GB 37487 "Health
management specification for public places", GB 37488 "Hygienic indicators
and limits for public places", GB 37489 "Hygienic design specification for public
places", GB/T 37678 "Hygienic evaluation specification of public places".
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard partially replaces GB 9663-1996 "Hygienic standard for hotel",
GB 9664-1996 "Hygienic standard for public place of entertainment", GB 9665-
1996 "Hygienic standard for public bathroom", GB 9666-1996 "Hygienic
standard for barber shop and beauty shop", GB 9667- 1996 "Hygienic standard
for swimming place", GB 9668-1996 "Hygienic standard for gymnasium", GB
9669-1996 "Hygienic standard for library, museum and art gallery", GB 9670-
1996 "Hygienic standard for shopping center and book store", GB 9671-1996
"Hygienic standard for hospital waiting room", GB 9672-1996 “Hygienic
standard for waiting room of public transit means”, GB 9673-1996 “Hygienic
standard for public means of transportation”, GB 16153-1996 “Hygienic
standard for dining room”.
As compared with GB 9663 ~ 9673-1996 and GB 16153-1996, the main
technical changes of this standard are as follows:
- INTEGRATE the indicators of GB 9663 ~ 9673-1996 and GB 16153-1996;
PUT forward the hygienic requirements according to the indicators;
- Based on different locations and different indicator categories, ADD the
recommended hygienic requirements;
- ADD the hygienic indicators of centralized air conditioning ventilation
systems in public places;
- ADD the types and hygienic indicators of public goods in public places.
This standard was proposed by and shall be under the jurisdiction of the
National Health and Wellness Commission of the People's Republic of China.

Hygienic indicators and limits for public places
1 Scope
This standard specifies the hygienic requirements for physical factors in public
places, indoor air quality, drinking water, swimming pool water, bathing water,
centralized air conditioning ventilation systems, public appliances.
This standard applies to public places such as hotels, guest houses, public
baths, hairdressers, beauty shops, theaters, video halls (rooms), amusement
halls (rooms), dance halls, concert halls, stadiums, swimming pools, exhibition
halls, museums, art galleries, libraries, shopping malls (shops), bookstores,
waiting rooms, (airports, boats) waiting rooms, public transportation means.
Other public places may also make reference to it.
2 Normative references

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Central air conditioning ventilation system
The sum of all equipment, pipes and accessories, instruments and meters
for centralized treatment, delivery and distribution of air in order to meet the
set requirements of air temperature, humidity, cleanliness and airflow speed
in the room or enclosed space.
3.2
Public articles
Sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, towels, bath towels, bathrobes, cups,
sanitary ware, slippers, hairdressing tools, pedicure tools, and other items
that are repeatedly used and in contact with skin, mucous membranes, etc.,
provided by the public place operator.
4 Hygienic requirements
4.1 Physical factors
4.1.1 Indoor temperature
The indoor temperature of public baths and swimming pools (cafes) shall meet
the requirements of Table 1 in winter. In other public places where air
conditioning and other temperature adjustment methods are used in winter, the
indoor temperature should be between 16 °C and 20 °C. In the public places
where air conditioning and other temperature adjustment methods are used in
summer, the indoor temperature should be between 26 °C and 28 °C.
