Identification for passenger cars and their parts
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the requirements for marking identification on the main parts
of passenger cars.
This Standard is applicable to M1 vehicles.
The identification of other vehicle parts (or assemblies) can refer to use.
2 Normative references

document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references,
the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 interior surface

4 Identification information for identification for passenger
cars and their parts
The identification information for the identification for passenger cars and their parts
shall be either a) or b).
a) vehicle identification number (VIN) in accordance with GB 16735-2004;
b) part (or assembly) number, which shall be traceable, unique, and corresponds to
the VIN of the vehicle on which the part (or assembly) is installed.
5 Number and location of identification for passenger cars
and their parts
5.1 Passenger cars shall be marked on the visible parts of the baggage compartment
with the identification for passenger cars and their parts in accordance with a) specified
in Clause 4.Mark the identification for passenger cars and their parts in accordance
with a) or b) in Clause 4 on the transmission (or drive motor).
5.2 Passenger cars shall have at least one electronic control unit (ECU) to immutably
record the identification information for passenger cars and their parts in accordance
with a) specified in Clause 4.The electronic control unit shall provide an effective
communication interface to read the identification information for passenger cars and
their parts. The design of the electronic control unit in terms of communication
protocols shall comply with the requirements of the corresponding standards.
5.3 In addition to the provisions of 5.1 and 5.2, passenger cars shall also have at least
5 parts (or assemblies) marked with identification for passenger cars and their parts in
accordance with a) or b) of Clause 4.The vehicle manufacturer can determine the type
of part (or assembly) that needs to mark the identification for passenger cars and their
parts.
5.4 Parts (or assemblies) marked with the vehicle and component identification
specified in 5.3 do not include the parts (or assemblies) marked with VIN in accordance
with 5.2.2, 5.2.3, and 5.2.4 of GB 16735-2004.
6 Marking method of identification for passenger cars and
their parts
6.1 The identification for passenger cars and their parts specified in 5.1 shall be
marked in the form of human readable codes. The identification for passenger cars and
their parts specified in 5.3 shall be in the form of a manually readable code or a
combination of human readable code and machine readable code.
6.2 The identification for passenger cars and their parts shall be affixed to the parts
by means of labels, or may be directly engraved on the parts; or the data information
conforming to the relevant standards may be stored in the electronic control unit
memory in an unchangeable manner. The identification for passenger cars and their
parts shall be satisfied when it is marked by labels or directly engraved.
a) When the identification for passenger cars and their parts is marked with labels,
the following requirements shall be satisfied.
1) The label shall meet the requirements of 4.3.1 and 4.3.2 of GB/T 25978-2010.
