1 Scope

This Standard specifies the designation and classification, ordering content, dimensions, shapes and allowable deviations, technical requirements, inspection and test, packaging, marking, transportation and quality certification for steel strips for packing. This Standard applies to steel strips for the strapping use for packing for metal materials, glass, light industrial products, logistic transportation and so on (hereinafter referred to as strapping strips).

3 Designation and classification

3.1 Designation The designation of strapping strips consists of minimum tensile strength value and Chinese Pinyin initials “KD” of “strapping strip”. Example. 830KD. 830 – specified minimum tensile strength, in MPa; KD – Chinese Pinyin initials of “strapping strip”. 3.2 Classification 3.2.1 They are classified into the following based on the strength. a) ordinary strapping strips. 830KD and 880 KD; b) high-strength strapping strips. 930KD and 980KD; c) ultrahigh-strength strapping strips. 1150KD, 1250KD and 1350KD. 3.2.2 They are classified into the following based on the surface condition. a) blued. referring to that the surface of finished products includes an oxidation film and a wax protective layer. b) painted. referring to that the surface of finished products includes paint and a wax protective layer. c) galvanized. referring to that the surface of finished products includes zinc (zinc alloy) and a wax protective layer. 3.2.3 They are classified into the following based on the coiling method. a) simplex coiling (hereinafter referred to as simplex). a coiling method in which the coiling centre is fixed during the coiling of finished products. b) duplex coiling (hereinafter referred to as duplex). a coiling method in which the coiling centre reciprocates to an agreed distance along an axis.
