1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of calenders. This standard applies to calenders for papermaking.

2 basic terms

2.1 Calendering The process of changing the surface smoothness, gloss, tightness and the like of the paper web by mechanical friction or extrusion. 2.2 Glazing A high gloss finish is achieved by rubbing or sanding the surface of the web. 2.3 Friction lighting An operation in which the web is glossed by friction. 2.4 Tunnel stone polishing flintglazing The work of pressing the tunnel stone on the paper surface at a certain pressure for reciprocating motion to obtain gloss on the paper surface. 2.5 Brush brushing A finishing work that produces a gloss on the surface of the web by the rubbing action of the brush. 2.6 Steam gloss processing steamfinishing The work of adjusting the gloss with steam and then obtaining the gloss by calendering. 2.7 Hard calender hardcalendering A calendering operation using a rigid nip consisting of a hard roll surface. 2.8 Super calendering supercalendering A multi-nip calender roll set consisting of soft and hard rolls, which is a calendering operation that improves the gloss of the paper web. 2.9 Soft calendering softcalendering The elastic nip composed of high-temperature heat roller and soft roller is used for calendering by surface shearing and pressing. ......
