The results are expressed as acid value or acidity. Generally depends on the acidity of the product (pure seeds and impurities) to give an oil, if necessary, the seeds can be individually or analytical impurities resulting oil. This standard does not apply with velvet cottonseed, oil palm fruit and olive oil in the determination of acidity. Note: Due to the inter-laboratory tests, lauric acid content of seeds and fruit (copra, palm kernel) test data is less, therefore, the method is applied to these oils are also in doubt. |

Foreword
This revised standard adopts the International Standard ISO 729. 1988 "Oilseeds oil acidity determination" (in English).
This standard and ISO 729. The main technical differences compared to 1988 are as follows.
--- Increasing the allowable difference results requirements (see 9.2 of this standard).
For ease of use, this standard the following editorial changes.
--- Delete foreword international standards;
--- The "this International Standard" by "this standard";
--- With a decimal point as a decimal point instead of the original ",". ",";
--- The relevant formulas are numbered.
This standard replaces GB/T 15689-1995 "Determination of acidity of the oil oilseeds."
The main changes in the standards and GB/T 15689-1995, compared as follows.
--- 9.1.3 adds a separate analytical or impurities in seed oil;
--- Modify the precision requirements.
The standard proposed by the National Food Authority.

Determination of acidity of the oil plant oil
1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for determination of oilseed oil acidity, which results in an acid number or acidity expressed.
Acidity depends on general product (pure seed and impurities) resulting oil; if necessary, can be used alone or impurities obtained analytically pure seed
Oil.
This standard does not apply to the determination of acidity pile cottonseed, oil palm and olive-pomace oil in.
Note. Due to the inter-laboratory tests, the less of high lauric acid content of seeds and fruits (copra, palm kernel) test data, so that the method is applied
Some oil is also in doubt.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this standard.
3.1
Percentage of free fatty acids content of the oil.
3.2
The free fatty acids in the oil and 1g number of milligrams of potassium hydroxide required.
Depending on the type of oil, according to Table 1 indicates acidity.
Table 1 Acidity representation of different types of oils and fats
Fatty oils molar mass of species represented by/(g/mol)
Coconut oil, palm kernel oil and lauric acid
High content of oils
Lauric 200
Other fats oleic acid 282
When the result is written, "acidity" and with no details, then this "acidity" is usually expressed as oleic acid.
Principle 4
The measured amount of oil extracted oilseed oil, dissolved in a mixed solvent of diethyl ether and ethanol, then titrated with a standard solution of potassium hydroxide deposit
In that the free fatty acids in the oil, and calculate the free fatty acid content, expressed in acid number or acidity.
5 Reagents
This standard reagents listed were of analytical grade purity water distilled or equivalent water.
