1 Scope
This Specification specifies the performance requirements, inspection methods,
inspection rules, etc. of light-emitting diode (hereinafter referred to as "LED") used in
light-emitting diode (LED) displays.
This Specification is applicable to LED used in indoor and outdoor LED displays.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this Specification, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 11499-
2001, GB/T 15651, SJ/T 11141-2012 and SJ/T 11395-2009 apply.
3.1 Failure of appearance
It refers to the phenomenon of foreign matter, pollution, corrosion, cracks, bubbles,
peeling, deformation, or damage that affect the photoelectric characteristics of the LED.
4 Classification
4.1 Encapsulation method
LEDs are divided into the following categories according to the encapsulation method.
4.2 Use environment
LEDs are divided into the following categories according to the use environment of the
LED display.
5 Requirements
5.1 Appearance
Under the specified power-on and non-power-on conditions of LED, the failure of
appearance shall not occur; the lead-out ends shall not fall off or loose; and there shall
be no obvious corrosion or discoloration.
5.2 Overall dimension
The overall dimension of the LED shall comply with the provisions of LED product
specification.
5.4 Photoelectric characteristics
The photoelectric characteristics of the LED are shown in Table 2; and the specific
values are specified in the LED product specifications.
5.5 Electrostatic discharge sensitivity
The human body model ESD withstand voltage of the LED should comply with the
relevant levels in SJ/T 11400-2009, and 1B, 1C, and 2 are recommended.
5.7 Environmental adaptability
According to the classification in Clause 4, choose different environmental adaptability
test conditions. According to the requirements in Tables 5, 6, and 7, LEDs are divided
into three Classes. A, B, and C through different test conditions.
6 Inspection Methods
6.1 Inspection conditions

It shall be carried out according to the Method-4003 in SJ/T 11394-2009.
6.4.6 Chromaticity coordinate
It shall be carried out according to the Method-4001/4002 in SJ/T 11394-2009.
6.5 Electrostatic discharge sensitivity
The human body mode shall be carried out according to the Method-6001 in SJ/T
11394-2009.
6.7 Environmental adaptability
It shall be carried out according to the provisions in Tables 5, 6 and 7.
7 Inspection Rules
7.1 General
The quality assessment procedure of LED shall comply with the provisions of GB/T
4589.1-2006, GB/T 12565-1990 and this Specification. The quality assessment
category is Class-II.
7.3 Inspection for identification
The inspection for identification shall be carried out in accordance with the inspection
items, inspection requirements and sampling plan specified in Tables 4, 5 and 6.
7.4 Inspection for quality consistency
7.4.1 General
The inspection for quality consistency shall consist of the inspections in Groups A, B
and C.
7.6 Inspection in Group C (lot by lot)
The surface-mounted LED test samples shall be tested in accordance with the test
sequence specified in Table 6; and the various tests of Group C shall be performed in
sequence.
8 Additional Instructions
8.1 The product specification shall give the relationship curve between forward voltage
and forward current.
8.3 The product specification shall provide the relationship curve of the average
luminous intensity changing with the ambient temperature.
8.4 The product specification shall give a temperature chart for reflow soldering or
wave soldering.
8.5 Other characteristic curves, if required.
