1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the thickness of leather.
This standard applies to all types of leather. This standard applies to the
determination of the thickness of the whole leather and the specimen.

3 Principle
The thickness of the leather measured by the thickness gauge within a specified
load and within a specified time.
4 Device
4.1 Thickness gauge
4.1.1 Dial gauge, minimum scale 0.01 mm. It has a ± 0.02 mm accuracy within
the entire measuring range.
4.1.2 Test bench, a cylinder with horizontal surface, diameter (10.00 ± 0.05) mm,
height (3.0 ± 0.1) mm, installed on the surface of a coaxial round platform which
has a diameter of (50.0 ± 0.2) mm.
