Foreword

GB/T 5137 "Test methods of safety glazing materials used on road vehicles" is divided into 5 parts: - Part 1: Mechanical properties tests; - Part 2: Optical properties tests; - Part 3: Radiation, high temperature, humidity, fire and simulated weathering resistance tests; - Part 4: Determination of solar characteristic; - Part 5: Resistant-to-chemical and resistant-to-temperature changes test. This Part is Part 5 of GB/T 5137. This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Part replaces GB/T 17339-1998 "Road vehicles - Safety glazing materials - Test methods for resistant-to-chemicals and resistant-to-temperature changes". Compared with GB/T 17339-1998, in addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes of this Part are as follows: - ADD normative references (see Clause 2); - ADD terms and definitions (see Clause 3); - ADD test conditions (see Clause 4); - ADD test apparatus for resistant-to-chemical test (see 5.3); - ADD the resistant-to-chemical test method for rigid plastics - weight-bearing method (see 5.5.3); - ADD test apparatus and appliances for resistant-to-temperature changes test (see 6.2); - ADD the resistant-to-temperature changes test method for rigid plastics (see 6.4.2); - Delete the test report (see Clause 4 of GB/T 17339-1998). This Part was proposed by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC. Test methods of safety glazing materials used on road vehicles - Part 5: Resistant-to-chemical and resistant- to-temperature changes test Warning - Some test procedures specified in this document may lead to dangerous situations. Users are responsible for taking appropriate safety precautions.

1 Scope

This Part of GB/T 5137 specifies the methods of resistant-to-chemical and resistant-to-temperature changes test of safety glazing materials used on road vehicles. This Part applies to the test of plastic-glass composite materials, rigid plastics, and flexible plastics used on road vehicles. The weight-bearing method for resistant-to-chemical is only applicable to rigid plastics.

2 Normative references

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in QC/T 1119 apply to this document.

4 Test conditions

Unless otherwise specified, the test shall be carried out under the following environmental conditions: a) Ambient temperature: 20 °C±5 °C; b) Atmospheric pressure: 8.60×104 Pa~1.06×105 Pa; c) Relative humidity: 40%~80%.

5 Resistant-to-chemical test

5.1 Test purpose Determine the resistant-to-chemical properties of plastic-glass composite materials, rigid plastics, and flexible plastics during vehicle use. 5.2 Chemical reagents for the test 5.2.1 Abrasive-free liquid soap Deionized water contains 1% (mass fraction) potassium oleate solution. 5.2.2 Window cleaning fluid The aqueous solution OF isopropanol and dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether with concentration of 5%~10% (mass fraction) respectively AND ammonia hydroxide with mass concentration of 1%~5% (mass fraction). 5.2.3 Denatured alcohol A mixture of 10 volumes of ethanol and 1 volume of methanol. 5.2.4 Gasoline A mixture of 50% (volume fraction) toluene, 30% (volume fraction) 2,2,4- trimethylpentane, 15% (volume fraction) 2,4,4-trimethyl-1-pentene, and 5% (volume fraction) ethanol. 5.2.5 Kerosene A mixture of 50% (volume fraction) n-octane and 50% (volume fraction) n- decane. 5.3 Test apparatus Soaking method should use metal or glassware with suitable capacity. The test apparatus for weight-bearing method is shown in Figures 1 and 2. USE a metal plate with a length of not less than 25 mm and a thickness of not more 2 - Fixed end. Figure 2 -- Schematic diagram of the method of applying chemical substances 5.4 Sample The sample is a flat test piece of 180 mm×25 mm, or a test piece cut from a flat part of the product. Before testing, the sample shall be placed in an environment with a temperature of 23 °C±2 °C and a relative humidity of 50%±5% for at least 48 h. 5.5 Test procedure 5.5.1 Test preparation The test shall be conducted under ventilated conditions. The operator shall wear safety protective equipment. Before the test, the sample shall be cleaned nondestructively. 5.5.2 Soaking method POUR each chemical reagent specified in 5.2 into 5 utensils, respectively. The amount of solution should be such that the sample is completely immersed. After immersing the sample in the chemical reagent for 1 min, take it out; immediately use a clean absorbent cotton cloth to wipe it dry. CHECK the sample for softening, sticking, cracking, or obvious devitrification. For rigid plastics applied to the driving vision area, after the test, take 1 of them and perform the cross-cut test according to the test method of GB/T 5137.1; determine the adhesion level. A new sample shall be used for each chemical reagent. 5.5.3 Weight-bearing method 5.5.3.1 Sample installation The sample is placed horizontally on the test stand to become a horizontal lever. One end of the sample is the fixed end. The support is placed 51 mm from the fixed end. A load is applied at the free end 102 mm from the support, as shown in Figure 1. The load mass G is obtained from formula (1): Where: G - Load mass, in grams (g); ......
