Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020
Directives for standardization - Part 1.Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents.
This document is Part 53 of GB/T 4706 Safety of household and similar electrical
appliances. GB/T 4706 has been published in the following parts.
-- Part 1.General requirements;

This document replaces GB 4706.53-2008 Household and similar electrical appliances
- Safety - Particular requirements for toilets. Compared with GB 4706.53-2008, in
addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are
as follows.
-- The scope of the application is changed. The original "shower unit" is changed
to "spray seat" in the entire text (see Chapter 1; see Chapter 1 of the 2008
edition);
-- The definition of "spray seat" is added (see 3.105);
-- The requirements for the test sequence are added (see 5.2 and 5.3);
-- The requirements for the type of appliances for spray seats are added (see 6.1);
-- The waterproof grade requirements for spray seats are added (see 6.2);
-- The requirements for the force applied to the appliances in the mechanical
strength test are changed (see 21.101; see 21.101 of the 2008 edition);
-- The requirements for the mechanical strength of spray seats, heated seats,
enclosures, etc. are added (see 21.103);
-- The structural requirements for bare heating elements of appliances are added
(see 22.33);
-- The structural requirements for "thermal link for compliance with 19.13 and

This document is identical to IEC 60335-2-84.2019 Household and similar electrical
appliances - Safety - Part 2-84.Particular requirements for toilet appliances.
The following minimal editorial changes are made to this document.
-- The name of the standard is changed to "Safety of household and similar
electrical appliances - Part 53.Particular requirements for toilet appliances"
to enhance the coordination of the standard system.

1 Scope
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is replaced by the following.
This document specifies the safety of household and similar electric toilet appliances.
This document applies to household and similar electric toilet appliances having a rated
voltage being not more than 250 V, in which excrement is stored, dried or destructed or
which wash or dry parts of the human body.
2 Normative references
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.

3 Terms and definitions
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.
For freezing toilets, 0.3 L of water having a temperature of 37 ℃ is added each cycle,
controls being adjusted to the lowest temperature. They are also operated without water.
Spray seats are supplied with water at the most unfavourable pressure that provides an
effective spray.
4 General requirement
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable.
5 General conditions for the tests
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.
The temperature of the water used for the tests is 15 ℃±5 ℃.
6 Classification
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.
Appliances incorporating water heaters having bare heating elements shall be class I or
class III.
Toilets, spray seats and heated seats shall be at least IPX4.
7 Test steps
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.
The installation instructions for class 0I appliances and class I appliances shall state that
they have to be earthed.
The installation instructions for appliances incorporating water heaters having bare
heating elements shall state the substance of the following.
The label may be fixed on the appliance if it is visible before using the toilet.
Compliance is checked by inspection.
8 Protection against access to live parts
This chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.
Test probe 18 of IEC 61032 is also applied, as specified for test probe B.
