1 Scope
This Standard specifies basic requirements, numbering rules and application
for recall of motor vehicle product.
This Standard is applicable to identification and recall record traceability of
recall activities for motor vehicle product.
2 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
2.1 recall
the activity of the manufacturer to take measures to eliminate defects in its sold
motor vehicle product
2.2 numbering
the process of encoding text, numbers or other objects in a predetermined
method
2.3 recall numbering
a set of standardized codes for recall management
3 Basic requirements
Recall numbering shall follow the principles of uniqueness, stability, consistency
and scalability. The specific requirements are as follows:
- Uniqueness:
A recall activity can only be assigned a recall numbering.
- Stability:
A recall numbering is permanently assigned to a recall activity and cannot be

Code "0002" means that the recall is the second recall activity released that year;
Code "V" means the manufacturer takes the initiative to recall.
The meaning of the recall numbering in the example is: the second recall of motor vehicle
safety defects is released in 2015; the type of recall is active recall.
4.2 Defect category
Defect categories include safety defects and environmental protection defects,
represented by S and E respectively.
4.3 Age identification
The Gregorian calendar year of the recall announcement, is expressed in four
digits.
Example:
2015 means the Gregorian calendar 2015. The time range refers to January 1, 2015 to
December 31, 2015.
4.4 Product type
Use a capital English letter to indicate. Of which, M stands for motor vehicle; T
stands for replacement tire; C stands for child seat; E stands for other
replacement parts.
4.5 Sequence number
Use 4 Arabic numerals to represent. Each digit symbol is composed of 0-9 digits.
It is given in the chronological order of the recall announcement. Count
sequentially from 0001 every year.
4.6 Recall type
Use a capital English letter to indicate. Of which, V stands for voluntary recall;
I stands for recalled affected by investigation; O stands for ordered recall.
5 Numbering application
5.1 The recall numbering is uniformly compiled by the competent department.
5.2 The manufacturer shall indicate the recall numbering on the documents or
materials such as the recall plan record data, recall notice, recall periodic report
and recall summary report.
